"Please Note: Cut-off for receipt of application and payment for submission to next scheduled Board meeting is 7 calendar days prior. Applications and payments received after the cut-off date will be submitted to the following scheduled Board meeting."

NOTE: when they say "payment" they mean IN THEIR ACCOUNT and not deposited. so don't wait for the last day.
" AUDA NOTE: Membership applications will not be processed until payment is received."

NEXT schedule meeting is 20th June 2016, so you have just 4 weeks to be sure.

payment happens on the 2nd page by cheque, direct debit and they do paypal as well.

"Please include your Member Name in the transaction reference so we can correctly identify your payment."

What are people voting for though? I don't know if anyone on the demand side that has any particular policy, I'm not convinced there is any actual "representation" going on.

The only person to have any policy there is on the supply side (James Deck). Other than that it is just people talking about how great they are, not what they stand for and what they will try to achieve. Seems like we'll see the same this year, people turning up here at crucial times to get votes, people not even bothering with a statement, people talking about themselves and voting on the basis of their own opinions/interests.

I'll personally keep my $22 in my pocket.

any vote is about self interest, look at the government !! but you don't have to pay to vote.
showing up at crucial times: just like the government, whens the last time you saw your local member????
i agree they shouldn't just show up, but they do and most do state then what they stand for so we can get an idea. but this shows how hopeless the whole system is, purposely a "secret society" of "yes people" or you are ground down till you're out.
voting gives you a chance to make a change, hopefully then that person represents your interests but over and over again saying you're not a member and then have an opinion on whats wrong ISSSSSSS whats wrong, if you are not a member then the only post on these subjects can be " i'm happy the way it is" because you and others have done nothing about helping make a change.

if someone gets betten by 2 votes but gained 20 then there is a hope to continue till they get voted in, but to run a race with no support will kick you down before you even start, it also show auda once again how most people are prepared to just have the shit piled at them year after year.

Tim, who did you vote for at the last election? Have they represented your interests regarding .au?

Voting for someone on the basis of their CV (current situation) is no different to not voting at all, except the 2nd option is $22 cheaper. Until candidates have an actual policy it is throwing money away.

i voted for simon, i think he and i have mutual interests and points of view, some not of course but i do feel we need to keep him on the board and he can't do it alone.
if we don't build to having 2 on the board we will always get gunned down.

It's easy to sit back, do nothing and make false claims that there is "no representation". It's another thing to get involved and actively contribute to the discussion in order to shape our industry. I'm actually doing something about the issues and have given up a lot of my personal time.

If you think there is someone who can do a better job, then sign up as an auDA member and vote for them.

Simon, there is no question that you have taken certain positions over time. And for that you are to be congratulated. As you know, I even supported you at the last election!

However, what I want to know before auDA Election 2016 (and I'm sure others do too), is "where do you stand on direct registrations in 2016"? Do you think they are a good thing - or do you not?

Note that I am being careful in not asking you how you voted at any auDA Board meeting. That way you don't breach any confidentiality rules.

Simon nothing in your candidate statement says what you stand for and what you will attempt to do, even now you won't say whether you were for or against .au.

I'm not going to look for random documents such as the "2012 Westlake Review" to try and figure out what you stand for, I'm going to look at your candidate statement. As of now if I joined AUDA and tried to vote there would ne nobody to vote for, because nobody on that board has stated any policy.

i hope all are reading, its fundamental to have policies and direction and it doesn't start the week before the election, not breaching confidentiality rules is one thing, stating nothing is just nothing so any candidate ready should think about this carefully.
you can't breach a rule for stating your intentions in the future.

Previous years have been around October / November. If you join in time for the June meeting you should be fine. Remember you have to submit your application at least 7 days prior to the meeting date though.

i heard one reason was because someone some time back signed up fake people to get votes???? just a rumour.
but if auda actually did what they should do and spend less on champagne and expensive crappy websites and more on marketing to domain owners ( i mean everyday people ) then it would be difficult for them to maintain that system.

THE BOARD spending its time on approving new members is a complete waste of their time IMO, they have plenty on their plate they should really be concerntrating on.
