Just like to bring this up, there is still quite a few good .net.au and .net domain available for buy to snatch up, even though it has a good amount of monthly searches, but is it worthwhile spending money on .net.au and .net domain names?
Just depends on the price. If you can buy a net.au for 1/20th of the price if a com.au then yes most people would go for it
Didn't you use to think a net.au was worth about 1/10th of a com.au? (As a rule of thumb).

I only said 1/20th to be certain.
According to todays netfleet bids .net.au is worth about 100th of the .com.au
example being Botox.
Although.... having the two domains for sale at the exact same time maybe skews it a bit.
Not sure how that skews anything, sounds like a perfect comparison to me.

People may, in general, be prepared to pay 1/10th or 1/20th for the net.au or whatever when the com.au is already gone but in this instance, when both were available, maybe prospective buyers put all their energies into getting the com.au?
Just thinking out loud, could be BS...
Did you nod off after the full stop? Here it is again.
Although I did follow up with...
So I guess you're in that camp but unable to explain why. Fair enough.
There wouldn't be more interest if the .com.au was not dropping at the same time, that is the "BS" part.
Interesting discussion here,
