Wo nurriesNo, you can sell it to me cheap It's worth nothing
Aren't we naughty talking sales in the appraisal section.
I feel like I should be spanked
If the term "builder quotes" were popular the issue would really be breaking it down because it is going to be so broad in terms of what people want done and where they are located.
Ash, i'll help you out.... sell it to me
tim
with your logic the only domain name that ranks first is one that is a search term
i think its broad scope is an asset to its developed potential
yeh snoopy, its worth nothing Ash, i'll help you out.... sell it to me
tim
Ash can't.
It is not whether the name could potentially rank or not. The question is how does this domain help.
We are sitting here as domainers, not people who register any old domain. Why would a domainer spend time developing a name with 16 searches when they could be building a name that works for them, ie a much clearer development path and much better stats behind it.
This name has the development potential of any old reg fee domain in my view. Broadness combined with very low metrics is not a good combination.
Don't you realise that the value in this domain is not in the search metrics? Surely by now you've worked out there are lots of distinct factors that make up a domain's valuation.
This domain is brandable, memorable and would have a great CTR in SERPs or Adwords. That's where the value is for this domain.
The other domain LoseWeightFastDiet.com.au (http://www.dntrade.com.au/loseweightfastdiet-com-au-t6007.html) is not brandable or memorable but does have some search volume and CPC. So that's where the value is for that domain.
You didn't like the latter because it didn't sound good?
BTW at Sydstart, I met the guy who runs www.SolarQuotes.com.au. He's doing very well with his site & this type of name works really well for him.
the target market is near zero.
nobody is looking for a builder? i wonder why they are all driving mercedes on weekends?

Feel like I'm banging my head against a wall. Let me really, really simplify it.
Some domains have brandable value
Some domains have value based on metrics
Some domains have both types of value.
However (this is important), just because a domain only has one of these two elements doesn't mean it's worthless.
Let me first say you are once again arguing against points that I have never even made, I'm not saying only domains with search metrics have value.
well 16 people a month are.
The metrics aren't strong enough
the target market is near zero. What will it have a great CTR for, a term that has 16 searches
Why would a domainer spend time developing a name with 16 searches
16 searches a month, definitely not a domain worth developing in itself
for the people who use those domains..........
they are just choosing a name that suits their needs. It might be memorable, impressive, or even highly valuable
make clients think they are the market leader
So for a domineer looking to choose a domain to develop, metrics absolutely matter. That is different to someone with an interest/passion in a certain area who just uses whatever domain and gains advantages from other means. Someone might be able to use whateverwatercoolers.com.au or solarquotes.com.au and build a business on it, but the domain won't have done much for them.
