First domain name I registered was giftworld.com.au in 2000, for a joint venture e-commerce store I was doing with a local retailer. Things like beanie babies (anyone remember them), and various other stuff. It lasted about 3 years then was closed down, we were getting some sales but not a lot, and the domain dropped. Makes me wonder what would have happened if we had kept going!

I couple years later I noticed a poster in the local newsagency for a site called giftworld.com.au - they were obviously doing some form of offline marketing for their site. I had a look, different sort of product to we had had, can't remember what exactly.

Randomly thought of it a couple years after that (late 2000's) and it had closed down too. Since then, it's just had one of those "monitisation" sites on it, ie nothing at all. Maybe for the best, domain might be bad luck! haha

clubnode or thexxxclub , i started off doing affiliate sales for porn sites , a mentor took me under their wing and told me that i needed to get a few domain names together and start hosting my own galleries and banner farms etc to keep viewers on my site

it was doing ok for a few years with a host of domain names in my porfolio , then along came redtube/porn tube and torrents , sales start drying up so jumped ship to mainstream

was going to let my domain names lapse but thought i would try my hand at selling them off

Porn is pretty much given away free today, to encourage users to unwittingly download malware etc.

Mine was clanDS.com back in 98. Was for my Quake Team Fortress clan. Couldn't afford a .au back in those days being in highschool and all.
