What Do You Think?

Yeah I think if you are going to develop a domain these days you have to have at least some knowledge/passion for the industry.
knowledge = yes, passion = not so much, focus on what you need to do to get a return on your investment/effort i feel is the key factor.
eg: i'd never buy a domain on "gardening" , i can hardly grow WEEDS !!!
if you are going to dev then buy a domain you know something about, it doesn't have to be an A grade name and i would suggest the less knowledge then buy BETTER, the more knowledge you can buy lesser but increase value with effort.
THEN if you aren't going to dev, then ONLY buy the good stuff.

Well if anyone out there has the right contacts in the dentistry industry I've got a couple of dentistry related domains that I'm looking to move that are much better than teethgrinding.com.au if they want to broker or buy them.

PM me for more details.

$100 for queensizemattress.com.au - I see that as being right on the borderline of being commercial for a domainer to own...

Hard to imagine one's time would be justified finding an retail buyer if a domain can only get $100 at auction.

A lot of names that get a couple of bids aren't necessarily worth keeping. Lots of names that I drop get picked up. Sometimes it is is a case of "way better than most dropping names but still not profitable to hold". It is the kind of names that will get dropped again in my view.

teeth grinding dropping it was probs a good decision i would do the same with queensizematress, no profit in this name to many online retailers to compete witho_O

based on everything i have read over the past 3 year on dnt they all points to the same conclusions:

1) buy and develop to make money, but it costs you time and money
2) buy FANTASTIC domains not crappy ones
3) buy crappy and wonder why you aren't making money
4) buy SH1TLOADS of domains and pray someone buys one !
5) sell the name BEFORE you buy it.......... , its open knowledge ! and there are threads here about companies that try to do it.
6) please feel free free to ad number 6/7/8/9

Most mistakes I see are the buy a lot and pray, and buy crappy names

6. over pay for a name you think is fantastic and so do others only to realize in 2 years it was a waste of money, and it doesn't even get a $10 bid on drops, or some poor sucker buys it again for $200 lol.
7. listen to some random guy on a forum:eek:
