How popular are the .net.au domain names

Do you think everyone will drop them after the first period?

i.e. is it $1 spent per name or is it $1 + $20x where "x" is each renewal period. Typically someone with a decent name takes a decade or 2 (actually probably more like 5+) before a name sells. The outlay is still going to be significant.

Secondly what is the value of a person's time to find them, I think it isn't $0.

I posted elsewhere, as a bet on collingwood lost 2 weeks ago, I HAD to buy a .net.au which I did, that is all I bought.

i agree with snoopy, $1 is not the real cost of ownership.

Agree the $1 doesn't include the time spent identifying and reg-ing them (but I have plenty of .com.au's that wouldn't pass that qualification). It would be hard work to flip most net.au for profit - even at $1.

Having said that, I didn't reg them to flip them and I wasn't blindly mining. The dozen or so I reg'd were in a specific niche and I selected them using a formula.

I should have the first site online this week. While I won't say the site or the niche (because @Snoopy might reg the remaining .net.au's ), I'll report back in a few weeks if it generated any $$$.

I like to give ppl the benefit of the doubt.
