Owning a domain name should be a requirement for all auDA members. It is in Canada.
If people do not have any actual working knowledge of domain names or at least own one how can they be a part of the board and know the issues involved.
Often academics teach, sit on boards using a "title" and write papers ( often with government or other grants) but have very little actual real life experience in the field. I feel many of us have seen this example on past auDA boards.
Parrties should also not be writing crucial "survey" questions and policy updates or positions when they do not have the required domain name industry experience themselves!
Some policy may often look ok but in reality it is not workable and not what is needed. That's why more domain name registrant consultation is needed as a priority.
Most .com.au . net.au will say auDA and current policy still has too much red tape and many policies do not make sense or are just a profit grab for supply registrars or even auDA themselves. ( COR fee as just one example)
