So I am yet to sort into those categories, but I have added a couple of posts.

Also, I am having massive trouble with the videos! Can someone PLEASE recommend a good wordpress plugin and appropriate video format? I need this!

Youtube : with either WP plugin Smart Youtube or YouTube Embed

Hello Everybody!

I have had almost no time due to a variety of factors, but I won't discuss these here.

On the site I have done almost nothing unfortunately! Due to lack of updates on my part, I have temporarily pulled the site with a "Relaunching soon". I have done this, as I have two weeks school holidays coming up in a few weeks, in which I will make a BIG PUSH towards a proper, good quality computer tutorial site.

My questions for the moment are:
  • Should I leave the old (crappy) site up for now? Instead of "relaunching soon"?
  • What tutorials would YOU like to see on the site? I would love EVERY SUGGESTION you come up with; I will endeavour to do as much as I can and would love to help you on this.

Thanks so much.
Scott

Late July Update

Hey All,

So the site is going pretty well I think, it's got a fair bit of content on there (which has been a struggle, last few weeks have been hectic) which is good. I'm getting a consistent aprrox. 200-300 visits a month which could improve but I'm happy. :)

I'm planning on more content, quizzes, and videos as time progresses; I think my next item will be a HTML/CSS video (don't quote me on that! :p).

I've also added some Adsense code in the sidebar; not much but something for now.

Would love your opinions guys, advice, tips, recommendations, questions, arguments, criticisms, or feedback! Look forward to hearing from you! :D

Hey Scott - you're definitely getting there! Well done.

Good to see you have some Adsense in there - however I would have a play with this and get it right for your site. Talking colour, size, placement etc. Maybe look at putting a banner across the top .....

Also now that you are running Adsense, you'll need to put a "Privacy Policy" in there. In case you haven't got one, here is a "generator":

And where is your facebook link? ;)

Liked :)

Also, ads wise I would recommend something above the fold, and also ads within the content will perform better.

Update

Today, I did a bit more with Adsense and posted an article about TweetDeck, which I personally love. Anyone with multiple twitter accounts should look into it! :)

Just a quick suggestion. Try making the 728x90 banner at the top text only. Should give you a much better chance for a click. Also why not make the vertical banner on rhs bigger?

Thanks DavidL! I just changed the top add to text only, so hopefully I generate some clicks. I also widened the add in the sidebar to 200px from 120px. Hopefully this is also beneficial.

Update

I generated my first adsense revenue today! Looking forward to further developing the site!

Hey Scott, you're definitely getting there. Well done. :)

Congratulations on earning some money too!

Some comments / observations:

1. Weren't you going to do a Facebook button? You've blogged about social media, so perhaps you should have one somewhere prominent.

2. You don't have any leaderboard Adsense on any of your other pages.

3. Your text looks a bit strange on a couple of your posts. This is because it is "justified". Example is on your Facebook post:

"Keep an eye on all our social media, including facebook and YouTube"

Keep plugging away!

Thanks! :)

1. I totally forgot! I will add social media links tonight or tomorrow!

2. Can you explain this a bit better thanks? I have adsense on the bottom of my single post pages, where else should I put it? I'm a bit wary of overdoing it.

3. So it does! The endless perils of justification + short sentences. Will change tonight.

Cheers

All taken care of I think! Social media links now in sidebar (facebook, twitter, youtube); adsense adds on all pages/single posts, and category pages; now left aligned!

Ah ok! Well there is an ad down the bottom of that page, but I just added one on the top as well.

And now a wide Adsense ad in the footer on ALL pages. :)

Comment on one of those eternal "tech battles" at http://www.computerlessons.com.au/other/which-web-browser/. Tell us which web browser you use, and why you love it! Chrome, Firefox, IE? Something else?

Please, spare a minute and let us know!

Did that Scott. In the process, I discovered a small glitch. Your "clock" on your site is not running on Australian time. I posted at 6.49am today,
yet it shows me posting at 8.49pm on 3rd August. Not a big deal, but something that would be easy to fix.
