You know, I think someone needs potty training because shit is going everywhere.

Looks like the General is now being "moderated" on itwire. I got an email notification with 23 paragraphs of text by him praising auDA and its CEO, but the actual post never went online.

Seriously speaking, this Board should be named and shamed for all time as a result of their bad faith shown to the Australian Community. The Directors of auDA should consider their other Directorships held, of an Association, Company, or Organisation in Australia with Australian Members / Customers / Subscribers, how will they act to such a decision. Will they be concerned about their own membership organisation based on their Directors Decision concerning auDA. [I think so]

AWIA Your Constitution Does Not Prohibit a FLOOD of Foreign Applicants from Applying to be Members.

As Directors of auDA should your members at AWIA be worried about what you did to this membership Organisation?
It could easily happen to them under your own constitution.

James and Joe, Nothing stops us from taking control of your Organisation with our international Domainer connections. After all, you set the precedence.

Can we get a bulk discount? Affiliate links maybe? I'm sure we could get many more members rather than signing up foreign workers in developing countries who may be threatened with dismissal if they don't comply.

Was the motivation behind this administration to use the contestability of Members against itself; with a Board and Management acting in opposition to entrenched policy & practices, by design, bringing strong criticism against itself via the membership for the purpose of winding up auDA and re-delegating it to another administrator via Government intervention?

in my opinion, auDA’s Board decision to dilute the community self-Regulatory aspects of auDA and substitute a government authority with independent Directorship on the Board [as per Government Review] relied on such a tactic.

That would not surprise me. I can't believe they could be this stupid otherwise.

During this 2-year phase of "contestability" the market has become flat and in decline [see Dreamscape FY18], contrary to the OBJECTS of auDA this offers an opportunity for bigger registrars to buy out their competitors, consolidate and control the profitability of their market. It also meant, auDA must control the lion’s share of the Registration market fees and funding. Its ability to now regulate the market using 'reward and punishment' as a mechanism for policy outcomes is favorable to the goals of supply, enabling the means to curtail competitors from acquiring local market share or manipulate an unfavorable competitors’ life cycle via auDA sanctioning access to their marketing funds. It means auDA is a full-blown Market Cartel Tyrant, and worse should auDA survive - it will give future Boards that power to do so.

The Government will not allow that to continue; therefore, re-delegation to a new administrator under new terms removes or limits membership interference with the regulator, and establishes an independent Board with Government authority to regulate the market. This new administrator will remain susceptible to capture by the supply side interests via "independent directors" appearing independent when in reality are "interdependent".

The Chair Mr Leptos [independent Director] is directly responsible for this charade, he must be held accountable under the Corporations Act by the Members for bringing this organisation into disrepute, accordingly Sandra Hook and Suzie Ewart being also 'Independent Directors' appointed as Chairperson's for both Risk & Security and Governance of auDA are to be removed for their role in bringing detriment to the OBJECTS of auDA.

It is easy to see why both auDA and the Government want independent directors with Government authority on the board of auDA. In blaming the Supply Directors for their role in stacking the membership and Board in their favour only seeks to villainize them, thus giving more proof to the ineffective role of self-governance, because those directors had no integrity to support the system, weak, stupid, and easily influenced - you get what you paid for attitude. Now, if this plot to re-delegate the administrator is successful. it will only serve as a sign post to a tyrant flaunting itself as the new vanguard of governance, whilst the market slowly withdrawals itself away from the much admired and respected .au

Remove them and we may have a chance to save auDA via real stakeholder reform, keep them and this charade continues down darker paths.

According to Dreamscape Networks (ASX-DN8) the .au Market is Flat.

Dreamscape Networks (DN8) advised the Market at the DN8 AGM, domain and hosting in the Australian Market has been flat with no industry growth since the start of the financial year 2017. This has continued in the November to January 2018 period. The DN8 half-yearly report goes onto say; while the Crazy Domain Brand in Australia continues to increase its total .au domain market share, the industry as a whole has been flat. Offsetting the flat domain industry in Australia; the company growth is attributed to acquisitions.

Strategic acquisitions include:
  • Vodien Group (31 July 2017)
  • Enetica Group (31 October 2017)
  • Quadra Group (31 January 2018)
  • Domain Name Registrar (“DNR”) (1 July 2018)
Why is the .au Domain Registration Market Flat?
The market is flat because the management of auDA is having a direct negative impact upon the Market.

auDA has not demonstrated a business case to proceed with implementation of Direct Registrations. Now after 2 years of deliberation, uncertainty and resistance about Direct Registrations remains. And, obvious implementation complexities have given rise to discrimination against its major investor and speculator.

auDA remains unwilling to attract investment and promotion into the Secondary Market Namespace because the Board and the CEO are unwilling to cooperate with market participants to develop or implement policy outcomes that reflect what the market wants.

In defiance, the management of auDA has brought Government intervention against themselves, resulting in a favourable substitute, to act alone with a quorum of industry giants to reform auDA into a profit centre for a couple of Registrars using employee proxy votes to achieve their aims.

How can auDA honestly say their Membership ‘initiative’ to increase the diversity of the Membership of underrepresented stakeholders when…

They are already Members.
  • Afilias Australia Pty Ltd Supply
  • VentraIP Group (Australia) Pty Ltd Supply
  • Melbourne IT Ltd (Arq Group) Supply
  • WEB ADDRESS REGISTRATION PTY LTD (crazy Domains, Dreamscape) Supply
The Board has not used their power for a proper purpose, and Whilst auDA Management continues to defy and resist solutions provided to it by the very committees established to solve these problems then the Market will remain skeptical and suspicious about auDA.

auDA have turned it into a zero growth market.

If supply supports them they well be stuck long term with no real voting rights aside from the 4 amigos with their foreign signups. Even they will get wiped by the CMWG, Cameron will blame them for stacking and there will be a ban on foreign signups under the new constitution.

Its like a Golden Age for Domain names but we got stuck in a swamp with a bunch of weirdos playing banjos.

They are all trying to buy out others and acquire goats as the main growth strategy because there is no organic growth from domains. In my view all the uncertainty will tip registrations into decline.

Direct reg + talk of scrapping monetization policy = double whammy.

Boosting booking via acquisitions; doing it whilst the market is oppressed by the tyrant.

Wouldn't be eligible for the SGM due to the 3 month rule. This is why the 955 aren't eligible, they weren't able to get the court to extend the SGM for long enough.

I think it would go to the next board meeting for approval which is either June or July meetings depending on the date he applied.
