Yeah I do feel sorry for the Domain holder to loose the domain like this.

I think AUDA should have got in contact with him given the significant investment in the domain in the first place.

auDA would have been in touch with the Registrar and had them contact the Registrant.

They would have had time to act in accordance with policy.

Not sure I agree with your last statement; you think auDA should treat registrants differently if the domain had "significant" investment?

i don't think we can ask auda to monitor the "investment" and make judgements on that but surely anyone would look at this domain and go " hang on... whats going on here" and then try to make contact with the owner, it would be good to hear from auda on the process they used on this domain.

I think the process is people go around looking for incorrect information on valuable names, then lodge complaints with AUDA in the hope they can get the name to be deleted.

Indeed. I think we've had a couple of people on here that seem to have had no problem in doing that. PPP imho.

That sounds like a great conspiracy theory but I find it interesting that the contact of this domain heads DigitalBTC and yet we are still seeing it deleted. I think there's more to this story than a simple complaint.

Neddy you seem to have no problem singling out people on here for grabbing drops that you believe they are not entitled to register so don't act like the saint.

Why is it a conspiracy theory Horshack?

Policy is very clear - and the ownership of this domain was a "dog's breakfast". It was just waiting for someone to complain to auDA.

Let's compare apples with apples shall we Horshack.

I will always single out those that blatantly register people's brands or IP. I have outlined my reasons why I do so.

At least I am not a self-confessed complainant who seeks to complain to auDA for their potential own benefit (and is proud of the fact).

You might as well be making a complaint by posting the details on here. Are you hoping someone else will make the complaint so you can say that you've never made one or are you just happy to complain on here? Have you ever made an official complaint?

The issue isn't whether people are complaining, the issues is why some people are complaining. They are doing it in the hope of acquiring the domain for themselves.

It is a poorly conceived policy where someone can potentially gain a financial benefit by making complaints.

Once again, apples with apples Horshack. I can categorically state that I have never made an official complaint to auDA in order to have a domain deleted so that I can benefit from the process.

Unlike you.

To draw attention to the possible squatting of course. In my opinion it's not uncommon to find a questionable registrant on many domain names that I search for. I think those that wish to play outside the rules should be penalised for it. Maybe the websites that you are seeing from this registrant are a response to complaints to the AUDA. And of course the name is an attractive proposition to see deleted if I was possibly eligible which I'm probably not.

Yes I have complained to auDA in a general fashion about cybersquatting - I even did so at the AGM in Melbourne recently. It's my belief that a few bad eggs potentially spoil it for the good domainers.

Many of us here have worked hard over the years to get rules relaxed, and none of us want to go backwards. A plethora of cybersquatters has the potential to do that imho.

Apples v Apples Horshack.

So you are complaining on here really for your own benefit so the policy won't be tightened. I have never stated that I made the complaint so I could benefit from the process. Have a look back and you will see -> lol, does living in perth make me eligible or is that a stretch! By the way I agree about the bad eggs.

Mmmm - bolding is mine. ;)

Glad you agree on the bad eggs though. :)

I didn't think a single complaint in 12 years was a big drama but you seem to think so Ned. I do appreciate where you are coming from with regards to policy if the AUDA is bombarded endlessly with complaints. Is that fair enough!

That sounds good Horshack. Now practise what you preach. LOL! ;)

I've enjoyed the jousting - thank you. And I am glad that we at least agree on "bad eggs" potentially spoiling it for others.

On an important note though - Snoopy raised a very good point that really does need addressing imho.

The way that I see it there's always someone out there with more money to spend so complaining with the hope of acquiring the domains on the drop is more than likely going to fail. It's easier to negotiate with the holder if they are willing to negotiate rather than put the domain in play and giving everyone an opportunity to purchase it while relegating yourself to just being a spectator.
