( correct me if i say anything wrong)
.au , now heading to the board , what will happen if it goes through? or if it doesn't......yet............?
if it doesn't then it will be up to the next board i guess and who will that be?
one thing is auda are not going to tell you if you are not a member that to be a voting member you need to join by xx/xx/xxxx , this helps keep voters number down and thus more control of the chance of having boards of people who don't have a follow the status quo.
it will probably only be announced on dnt but auda always leave the signup time very short IMO.
in "behind the dot feb 2016" there is now over 3mil domains registered and less then 150 auda members, a little swayed towards a boys club i think.
then of the people involved on boards most have a financial interest in the business and something to gain from certain desicions like the .au implementation, YES, they all disclose this but it doesn't change the question of " what is the real motivation for certain decisions "
ausregistry is given the its role without any other competition being allowed to bid/complete/tender , why is that ?
so basically now is the time to join auda, not tomorrow, that way you can have your say either way.
also people you know who have a small portfolio need to be told about membership, $20 is a minute price to pay for the WEIGHT more members can have given it takes so few votes to be on the boards.
make sure you consider it when you next have your $6 coffee
