( correct me if i say anything wrong)

.au , now heading to the board , what will happen if it goes through? or if it doesn't......yet............?
if it doesn't then it will be up to the next board i guess and who will that be?
one thing is auda are not going to tell you if you are not a member that to be a voting member you need to join by xx/xx/xxxx , this helps keep voters number down and thus more control of the chance of having boards of people who don't have a follow the status quo.
it will probably only be announced on dnt but auda always leave the signup time very short IMO.
in "behind the dot feb 2016" there is now over 3mil domains registered and less then 150 auda members, a little swayed towards a boys club i think.
then of the people involved on boards most have a financial interest in the business and something to gain from certain desicions like the .au implementation, YES, they all disclose this but it doesn't change the question of " what is the real motivation for certain decisions "

ausregistry is given the its role without any other competition being allowed to bid/complete/tender , why is that ?

so basically now is the time to join auda, not tomorrow, that way you can have your say either way.

also people you know who have a small portfolio need to be told about membership, $20 is a minute price to pay for the WEIGHT more members can have given it takes so few votes to be on the boards.

make sure you consider it when you next have your $6 coffee

The Board has .au on the agenda for this coming Monday, so the current board will make the decision. I am thinking there could be two possible decisions (a) registrations at the second level is rejected; or (b) registrations at the second level approved, in which case there would have to be another process to determine how to do it, for example would the .com.au owner have priority or would it be out of the .net.au and .com.au

Totally disagree with you on this, if you join auDA then you are advised and your name is published on the membership list online for the world to see. I have been on this forum recommending people join auDA since at least 2008, but there is a lot of apathy and people don't join. You can join auDA at any time, the only thing you need to remember is that you need to be a member for 3 months before you can vote at the AGM. The auDA board has engaged in a number of new membership initiatives, including free events, networking nights, newsletters and now increased engagement. The new chairman of auDA is a member of DNT has is very keen on a greater level of engagement with stakeholders.

Sorry Tim but this is rubbish, the industry has the smallest voice on the board, the board composition is (a) 4 Supply Directors; (b) 4 Demand Directors; and (c) 3 Independent Directors. As you can see Supply Directors are in the minority.
Im always happy to discuss this with you in person

Thanks for raising the questions Tim, and the clarifications Erhan. These are issues I'm also keen to be clear on so it's good to find this sort of discussion, and to see it happening in the public arena; transparency is essential.
