Long-term demand class member Ian Halson was today appointed to the casual vacancy of Demand Class Director on the auDA Board.
The Board received high quality nominations for the role, which led to two rounds of interviews to inform the selection process.
Mr Halson brings to the Board a mix of technical and commercial expertise and a decade of experience as a demand class member. An owner of domain names across .com.au and .net.au, he is familiar with other namespaces including the .nz and .uk ccTLDs.
Through Mr Halson’s involvement in the domain name industry since 1998, including the operation of a multimedia business, Mr Halson also understands of how registrars operate from both technical and commercial perspectives.
Mr Halson is skilled in programming (PEP and Perl), server management (including DNS) and the management of ecommerce and large community portals. Mr Halson’s deep technical understanding of DNS and programming will be an invaluable addition to the skill set of the auDA Board.
The casual vacancy position will run until the 2017 AGM, when members will have the opportunity to vote on the permanent position.
All applicants for the casual vacancy have been encouraged to nominate for election at the next AGM, when four Director roles will be elected by members."
