I'm not a fan of the new gTLDs, but that's a great example of a good 'span the dot' domainDNJournal has reported that Sydney.florist recently sold on Sedo for 2,420 USD.
The domain redirects to UrbanFlower.com.au
Interesting. What extensions are you swapping from .com.au?Love the latest Gtlds. Seeing some good increases in click through rates when swapping from a .com.au.
Good questionInteresting. What extensions are you swapping from .com.au?
Is the extra click through rates from Australian users or spammers from overseas that fill up your analytics account with rubbish data? I guess it depends on the type of business you are running.Love the latest Gtlds. Seeing some good increases in click through rates when swapping from a .com.au.

If I was a Sydney florist I'd pay that for sure. It's one of the few new extensions that work well like this.
I submit that this is because you are a domainer, not a florist!

I ended up convincing a mate to take a "Chance" and take the leads the site was generating and now he's quit his full time job and works 100% from the website leads.
I am embracing new gTLDs
I suspect the original registrant of Sydney.florist paid approx.$usd1100.00 to register it.
Do you remember it selling or is that based on similar names?
Saw one mentioned the other day on domain sherpa, i.rent (the owner submitted it as part of a portfolio to be appraised). It turned out the owner (a domainer) had paid $9000 which is a pretty wild price to pay in the hope of resale. I don't think there is any money to be made paying $1000 for a name and hoping to sell it to an enduser for double that.

The way I see this is that for every year added I add the registration cost. There has only ever been two .florist domain sales recorded in the aftermarket and this is the highest (the previous one was18 months ago), that is out of 2700 registered domains.
People are wasting their time trying to make money out of crap like this. For every $2500 sale people will be spending $50,000 on renewing other similar names. The renewal looks to be $70. It is not profitable to be renewing names at $70 and selling them to endusers for $2500.
