We are please to be able to offer a new drop catching service for .au domains.

We turned it on on Friday and it worked really well, so I have put the proceeds from Friday "behind the bar" for the dntrade christmas party down in Melbourne
https://www.dntrade.com.au/general-...istmas-party-tickets-mon-15th-dec-2014-a.html

I am working on the interface as rapidly as possible based on feedback from our Beta Testers. I hope I can have a few more users added each day so feel free to signup at our website. If you are active on a daily basis and should be able to get you started very soon.

To all Beta Testers (and wanna be testers),

I have changed the system based on what we have learned thus far.

Firstly I am dropping the idea of having back orders. We are going to stay with an "only on success" model for now.

Secondly the dramatic jump in levels is going to be less dramatic. Each level is now double the previous level (this was 4x previously).

It starts at $25 now and doubles each time along the lines of

$25
$50
$100
$200
$400
$800
$1600
$3200... etc

This will provide more opportunities for orders worth more than $400 but less than $2000 which was a major sticking point for people on the old model.

The ...etc above is also critical since I am not limiting the levels (currently I have stopped at level 16 to stop the drop down being absurdly long)

Old orders will still be honored at the old price but will be assigned resources based on one level up in the new model, so an old LEVEL4 at $2000 will get LEVEL8 $3200 during the switch.

Was bidding on a domain for a client on drop and netfleet and it looks like we missed out thanks to you guys. So I've signed up with you...It's $500 per year? That seems a little rich.

Does the user need to pre register the dropping domains they are interested in? Does this mean I would need to check audas drop list for future drops ?

Most clients are reaching this limit easily via renewals.
Basically you transfer a bunch of domains across.
Renew them via our platform (we have .au renewals as low as $20.95 in GST for 2 years).
24 renewals later you qualify for access to CRS without the $500 fee.
If you only go for one name in a blue moon you can also ask an existing CRS client to make an offer for you since they can control the ABN/ACN used on a per-order basis.

If I understand your question then yes you do need to keep an eye on the entire auDA list including future drops.

The way it works is you can place an order on any domains currently on the auDA drop list.
Names are added onto the list every 5 minutes.
Expiring domains are on the list for 24-48 hours.
pendingDelete names can be on for either 3 days or 14 days.

If you get to the list late then you can end up having to make an offer at least double what is currently being offered so there is an incentive to get in early. Conversely getting in early means you need to be confident your offer is competitive as you do not get alerted if a higher offer is made later.
Bearing in mind the next offer is at least double what you valued the domain at so you should not feel too bad if your offer is beaten.

Is there a place where we can view all the domains that were caught each day and the price they were caught for?

And is there a place where we can see the historical pries that domains were caught for?

the other side of this topic is that there are more sales going on that are never seen, and i know you are a STATS guy, but you are never going to get your stats correct, we've had this conversation a million times here about the realities of the market and trades.......... its just never going to happen.
eg: a house in my street got sold recently, the internet said $425K, i then get a promotional real estate DL in the letter box that said it sold for $450K and am i interested in selling? , it was listed on some other realestate website that helena goes to and it said it sold for $395K and i was talking to the NEW owner the other day and i simply said " so you got a good bargain " ( a lead line for info ) and he said " yeh, we think $410K was fair.............. "

so who can you believe ?

by the way, he paid to much, i think i have seen winnebagoes bigger !!!!!

i didn't want an apology, its great to have someone here that thinks so deeply about whats going on, i like your stats and i refer to myself as "the maths guy" [ 1+1=2 maybe ] ? and i prefer accountants that say 1+1= " what number do you want "

It seems a little unfair that if I put in a bid at level 1 and someone else comes along and they put in a bid at the $25 level they will know someone else has bid at level one and then have to bid higher. This information isn't then available to the first bidder yet it is to the second.

Wouldn't it be fairer to let bidder 1 know that there is another higher bid?

PS, I'm still learning the system so apologies if I'm not understanding it properly.

do they not have an "you've been out bid" email ? , i haven't used it so i don't know.
it would seem to be proactive to have that email to prompt further higher bids.

to semi-quote from neds podcast the other day "i placed a bid for $6000 and knew that someone would have to go to $12000 as the next step "

I think the reason there are no emails to alert buyers being outbid, is to encourage bidders to put their maximum bid in first - but when you do that you get 'protection' from being outbid up to double your offer, great system if you are the first bidder
