Hi folks,
I've (anonymously) been in touch with AusRegistry and they've agreed to provide me with some info that may be of interest to you. So far this month, as a result of their $1 ".net.au" sale, there have been more than
27,000 NEW ".net.au" domains registered. (By comparison, there were
6,500 new “.net.au” registrations in May, 2013).
While a $1 price tag may be hard to resist, I still find it interesting (though not surprising) that AusRegistry has attracted more Australians to “.net.au” in one month than have been attracted to all of the new gTLDs combined since their inception; nTLDStats.com reports (29th May,
2014 AEST) that only 21,968 new gTLD domains have been registered by Australians to date.
These low numbers for gTLD registration among Australians is further proof of their confidence in “.com.au” and “.net.au”, and their undying loyalty to the “.au” ccTLD.

This week I discuss ".net.au" used in franchising.
