I think .photo is a much better sounding extension but launching later something very similar is a big negative.
The key thing in my view is that is a Uniregistry extension so I'd guess it is going to get half the volume or less than it might get if it had distribution through Godaddy and major registrars.
Dynadot and enom have been cheaper than godaddy, but probably more exposure at godaddy. I think there is also .photos as well as .photo? I think there will be confusion with that, so i prefer .photography in that case. Read during the week that magazine.photography sold for $3500, there will always be some sales i guess
