i think the Australian market has demonstrated that over the last six months it has begun to mature and that a quality name is now desirable which would mean the $2000 name would be the best bet
That said, I think 10 x $200 domains back in 2010 would have been your best bet (spread the risk but still have reasonable quality) - that's still probably the best strategy.
How about the option of hand registering 1000 names at $20 ( $20,000 and 2 year renewal costs $20,000...) or buying a $20,000 name ( and 2 renewal cost $20 ) ... that's also interesting..
depens what the name are and whats done with them
