Thanks guys. Yes it is "old school" - this is just a "temporary" page. Not looking for design awards, or anything complex. Sure we could sex it up - and we probably will a little in time (plus add some pretty affiliate links).
The point is, this domain is about 10 in the queue to develop out (at least as an affiliate site promoting somebody else - which we don't really want to do on a grand scale) - plus we don't have connections (yet) with magazine publishers here, like we do in the US. If we came across a connection (and we have looked) then this would jump to the front of the queue.
We originally set this up (as you can see in the archive.org link) to purely point to our International site - Magazine Subscriptions com - nothing more. And we have got lots of business out of that link too.
But rather than just leaving it there pointing customers to our international site, we thought (without doing much work) that we may as well put some hooks out for development partners. Which is the change - adding the text looking for a development partner (subscription agent, publishers etc).
Most people who type the domain in are looking to buy magazine subscriptions, and those we "forward" to the our international site, at the top of the page.
But some of the people that visit the domain would no doubt work in the magazine industry, and we may luck across a partner who we could build this out with.
Originally with the international site, Magazine Subscriptions com, apart from buying the domain for an absolute steal (very low 4 figures, btw - not our #1 bargain purchase) from a now friend of mine (and fellow domainer), we also lucked across a development partner in the US (whom to this day we have still not even met, though we have put thousands of orders through them).
Hope that makes some more sense.
The other thing i'm worried is perhaps it's displaying different for some people than others perhaps and we are not seeing things properly
Nope, one site is .com and the other .com.au - that is why you are seeing things differently, cos they are completely different sites. Or your comparing the old archive.org version with the now live version.
I mean no offence by this
None taken.
The other reason for having this "OLD-school" lander page is to get it aged in the search engines. This "site" is already in the first 2-3 pages (depending on the day) in google au for magazine subscriptions - with NO effort.
