Well I think the thing is that Chanel products are probably cheaper in Oz in comparison to specific parts in China. Luxury goods are sort after by rich Chinese.

Another thing is the tour company could be getting a kick back from the store to bring people their, i.e a percentage of sales.

In the end of the day I think internet businesses are still quite popular and good money makers.

I would say there is a great profit margin. I mean bottle would cost very little to produce and then sell for big dollars.

Of course some startups try short-circuit the brand building process by levering celebrities, kinda copying what these big brands do effortlessly. Sometimes it works for them, gets them to a certain level. But I have doubts when they start using top celebrities for vitamin brands. I don't think that will stick in the long run.

But when you see a time tested brand with strong foundations, it is pretty hard to topple I reckon.

they have spent MASSIVES amount of money building the brand, shame they didn't on their CONFUSING website ( .com) as i was actually on it today because of a new client.

tour groups are a big one for them, gold coast yes and cairns YESSSSS

kickbacks TOTALLY, they all run on kickbacks and its like air traffic control with these buses and different tour groups.

but hey ! good on them as thats what we want to do.

the thing is a huge amount of the money is actually not spent in australia, its prepaid in their country, the staff are from the country and are paid to thier country nbank accounts, the accommodation for staff is owned by the company thus rent is paid to them, etcccc . i know this first hand from living in cairns.

So some money filters out but i'd say no more then 50% of total spend whilst visiting.

this is the future, these tour groups were just the start of globalisation and now we purchase from everywhere so its time to surrender and fight fire with fire IMO
