I say buy them it's going to be a much better website if you can secure an exact match just because you don't need to explain what might be on a website such as GoldCoast.net.au

C'mon thats easy snoopy, build a platform for expired names.

Good one. That is the model that people adopt with names like this....sell them or put them on the mantelpiece or do something lame that doesn't work.

We'll you are going to have to explain the extension every time you tell someone the web address, ie emphasising the fact that it is .net.au, not .com.au.

Secondly how is the usage obvious for these names, gold coast is a bit more targeted than the other names though I don't see the usage as being clear either. Fridges.com.au is clear, melbourne.net.au isn't.

Maybe leasing off subdomains:

entertainment.sydney.net.au
accomodation.sydney.net.au
food.sydney.net.au

Not sure if this model has been done before...

Ironic, given that is exactly what the prior owners tried to do, (note post further up the thread).

It has all been done to death, free email, subdomains, "generic portals", hotel bookings on not strictly tourist names, news sites. Domainers have tried hundreds of times and never worked well.

These names are good when they are simply tourist destinations and lousy when they aren't. If it is not simple about tourism there is nothing to latch onto, and thinking up an idea doesn't cut it because the searches are for dozens of different things from local universities to people wanting to know the weather.

snoopy "throw us a bone" !

please write and ebook that i can pay for, detailing ALL the positives in your life as there are soooo many.

stop telling us whats wrong, please start telling us how to do it better like you have successfullly done.

tim

Here is how to do it better with names like these: Sell them to someone else.

David Fry from: whitersmile.com.au seems to have purchased a few of the domains same with Greg Brown from Viro purchased most of the others.

I thought about going for tasmania.net.au, but as I wouldn't build a business on a .net.au, the only upside I could see would be a future sale, and I didn't see much margin in it.

Basically, I agree with snoopy on this one!

nice names but .net.au's are often not worth the investment. It's very rare to see them sell for good money in the aftermarket ( besides drop auctions)

Sort of agree with Snoopy on this
