No site as yet...this is the first in my general/finance category.

Could be for Utilities comparisons most likely. Also for comms, finance/credit, Insurance etc.

Thoughts?

Thanks...The 'Could be' was used more to describe the industry possibilities for the domain, not the purpose of the domain.

As mentioned previously, due to other commitments at the moment I have decided to list a couple of domains on Netfleet for the fist time at no reserve auction (ending this week, 24th).

The 2 are CompareAndSwitch.com.au which I think would be an easy comparison marketing domain/site to promote (more sensible than comparing meerkats),
The other is AuDollar.com.au which would suit a financials based site.

Both domains rated negatively here when I first put them up in this thread for opinion by the few members that commented (personally I still think they are okay), so I've decided to rebirth this thread to open it to any further discussion, ridicule or 'I told you so' till close of Auction on the day and see how on/off target members here may have been.

Cheers

At what price will you be saying 'i told you so' ...........interested to know

Actually I was leaving that open to those that say they are worth nothing, zero, zilch, zip....if I had a set price (for me to be able to brag) I would have put a reserve on them.

I'll be the first to openly admit I'm no expert, and I know there have been several 'zilchers' that did rather well...so just curious I guess how well the seasoned domainers are in touch with the market sentiment when the time comes.

Thanks...I'm keeping (what I think are) the 2 better ones in the catalog for now...I know they will definately create more interest than the two mentioned above (Vacancies and NoReserve)....nervous I guess....but not in too much of a hurry with those, but I guess everyone has a price right?...still able to easily build a site for those even in spare time down the track if nothing eventuates.

Sometimes other things in life just get in the way of a bit of fun and speculation. Thanks for the well wishes.

Cheers

i heard a radio ad the other day with a similar idea to it, sorry can't remember its name , it just needs money thrown at it to make it happen and that can often be the problem, you can burn heaps of $$$ on traditonal media trying to build a brand.

almost 90% of the radio ads for these comAU's you never hear again after 2 months max.

What did audollar.com.au finish at?

Looks like zero bids.

I thought about that but a search for AU Dollar gave me this:

Not sure how many would need to click though beyond that.

I don't think this would cover registration and sales commission.

What did audollar.com.au finish at?

Nil on AuDollar...thats fine, I'll move it to the catalog and bring in Vacancies.net.au to AMA and see how that goes before looking at NoReserve.com.au .

I'm still trying to figure out what the best day or week of the month is best to list at, there doesnt seem to be any obvious consistency.

Luck of the draw I guess without the contacts in the industry.

Best day or week of the month? What is the point when the names are not even getting a bid most of the time? ie 2/3 auctions resulted in no bids and the other auction was a $21 sale. You are looking at the fine details and missing the main point in my view.

It's not about luck.

So what is the point. You guys dog domains all the time that do well and when they do its like"....not worth it, waste of money..' or whatever else.

The important question is, Who sits there and looks at every single domain in Netfleets list? How many are there on sale for the day? Yet only maybe 10 to 20 get bids.

Apart from the constant 'I'm better domainer than you' attitude....how about getting to the nitty gritty details of how to make a domain stand out?....Oh thats right, theres always google to give me those answers....why would one think that a forum based around Au domaining might give them some of the answers they were looking for?

This is the reason I'm starting to sell off the domains...its a mugs game and a closed circle, just like many prospecting forums....heaven forbid that someone might actually 'figure it out' and make some money out of it.....thanks for nothing.\

Happy to have my membership to this forum deleted, the negativity oozing from some peoples attitudes is toxic.

Who are you referring to when you say "You guys"?

If you mean me, then you're kidding yourself. I can't see any value in the ones you listed, and the auction you ran today proved it.

The one's you want to send to auction next I personally can't see any more value in them than the ones that got next to nothing today.

Why post in the appraisal section if you can't handle the hard truth that people will appraise them as. Sorry they were not the hidden gems you thought. We've all been there and done that. Why take it personal?

Who said "I'm a better domain than you"?

I'm not a domainer myself. Never claimed to be.

Give answers to what you were looking for? People did.

Sorry they were not the pat on the back answers you were after.

.....thanks for nothing.\

Negativity? I see the hard truth, and I wish I had learnt what I know now many years ago.

It's not negative, it's just honest. It's a tough slog, and you might get lucky with an end user finding your domain useful, but if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

Then there are those that take their bat and ball and go home.

All the best..

how about getting to the nitty gritty details of how to make a domain stand out?

You are looking at things the wrong way, you don't "make" a domain stand out. It is either good or it isn't.

Lousy domains can sometimes sell for high prices but that is not a strategy that actually works for domineers. It is akin to throwing dice at the casino.

You need to figure out for yourself the difference between a good and a bad domain, that might take you a significant amount of time and research.

This is the reason I'm starting to sell off the domains...its a mugs game and a closed circle, just like many prospecting forums....heaven forbid that someone might actually 'figure it out' and make some money out of it.....thanks for nothing.\

I would see your situation with domains as follows,

1. You aren't making any money in it.
2. You don't like being told the names you've registered are worthless.
3. You don't know how anyone makes money in it (which is an obvious statement given the point 1.)

It doesn't matter much whether your account is deleted on not, long term people are highly unlikely to stay in something they are losing money at.
