While that comment wasnt directed at me, I'll say age has nothing to do with anything. I have met several foolish old men and women in my life too.

Bottom line is this...give the market (being...the 'general public' doing the searches online) what they want....To know what they want....heck thats a thread in itself.

It doesnt matter what we think, its what the public thinks and wants that makes the $$$.

Totally agree, the shortest, relevent domain name is superior to any other.

The best domain tool is the Google search bar.

Not necesarily what I meant and you may have taken my post the wrong way.

'Insurance' might be good and priced accordingly (only because it can be spread along all the industry products), but people dont ussually just search 'insurance', if they want car insurance, thats what they will type in, health insurance...same thing, 'cheap health insurance'...they'll hopefully get that. That is where you start splitting the market and get better inroads for ranking.

The relevence comes into the search term that is typed in by the user, not the shortest equivelent.

Totally agree again.

The shortest, relevent name that is available is what makes a marketable alternative to the best domain name which is unavailable.

Surely this approach will secure marketable domain names.

You can lead a horse to water...

What a wonderful insightful comment.

Please explain your reasons as to why you think my concept is flawed!!

I will listen and take on board any comment that adds to the quality of this forum. My concept is designed to encourage debate on its merit or otherwise and hopefully encourage others to look to the future oportunities in domaining. How long do you think it will take before all quality domains are taken up, alternative ideas must be discussed.

I think that's the point, the quality domains are already taken up. Long ago...

That doesn't mean there aren't opportunities, quite the opposite.

<keyword>au, au<keyword> or partial matches may work for some names, but a miss is as good as a mile in most cases.

Cheers,
Chris

doesn't survive the radio test.

unbrandable, you would have so much leakage to the "real" domain.

Yes.

It genuinely pains me to say so since you've clearly put some money into them, but the answer is yes.

Better to know now though, rather than continuing to put money into poor domains.

RentalcarsAu or HolidayAu may have some value from that list as a possible search terms for international travellers coming in (book ahead before arrival), but thats maybe it in my view.

Does BestFlights have an AU in it?...that could be another maybe (without the AU).

AdultServicesAu could go to one of the leading legal establishments in one of the capitals.

Sorry, but I agree with the other responses - these are a horrible waste of money.

How many (term)(au).com.au domains have you sold? Did you prove your model before spending lots of money? If you didn't, then I think you should see this as a paid lesson in domain investing. Next time make sure you have a proven model before going reg-crazy on 'creative' domains.

The domains in your list are confusing, and as findtim said, they will leak traffic. I would never brand a business on those domains.

I wasted a lot of money when I started, and I see it as an expensive learning curve. What myself and others are trying to do is save you from having to learn the hard (expensive) way, but it may already be too late in this instance.

We've all made mistakes in the past, people here are just trying to help others avoid the same pit-falls, so please don't take it personally.

That's an impressive list of au.com.au's! Surprised you could even hand-reg them these days, pretty big keywords there!
