with any of these domains its the $$$$ you have behind it to make it happen.

i stand by livebets, it says INSTANT to me.

freebets rings scam to me.

but i know nothing i don't gamble!

Tim, it is really simple, if a keyword domain has strong metrics it is going to get a good price at auction, it is doesn't then it won't. So you might think livebet.com.au sounds great, nobody else cares whether it sounds good or not, they are looking for a clear, obvious, money making element, ie searches & keyword value.

This domain is one of those niche specific domains.

It has high high value, but the potential market is small.

Outside 5-10 people this domain has little appeal as only the players in this market understand its value.

Consequently though - and maybe why it dropped - if your not involved in the industry then its value isn't apparent.

Trying to sell it to someone outside the industry would be pointless and owning outside the industry without an understanding of the key terms would also be pointless.

Hence why the comments regarding "low competition" and "surprise" about its final value have appeared. Only those operating in the industry would know its value. But of those in the industry, there's only 5-10 potential buyers.

Agree with the first bit; but respectfully disagree with the "if it doesn't, then it won't". There are many exceptions to this imho.

Classic example is investmentproperty.com.au - $125,001 (3600 Exacts).

Ed Keay-Smith (OzDomainer) did a great interview with Andrew Miller / Zappy Zapolin of InternetRealEstate.com. I did a piece on it here.

One particular part still stands out to me:

A lot of “Domainers” (not all) value domains they make offers on based on traffic and CPC. He totally disagrees with this approach. He and Zappy have never ever sold a
domain based on traffic and PPC. They even refuse to quote any stats.

Their buyer is a domain developer or enduser who understands that the value to them is not some parked page that a domainer has done nothing with – but rather what they can do with it.

Succinctly and intelligently put!

The term doesn't mean anything, a couple of words stuck together. Are we about to have one of those but what about the value of Google.com? If so that thread has played out 500 times on domain forums.

The fact is the 2 names you think are better got peanuts and it is obvious why.

It is in the same category, a name with strong metrics. Popular term, high value niche.
