no vision, no effort, no system, no web knowledge, no marketing etcccc

and now you are gonna trash me with " well if you have to put that much effort in then its not worth 1 cent" ?

snoopy i love ya but we are just on 2 different planets, PM me so we can have a beer and a chat.

Either we can make up all the excuses in the world or just come to the point that maybe the name isn't worth anything more than that. There appears to be nobody on planet earth willing to even buy traffic on the term, yet people (presumably someone other than yourself), should put in vision, effort, systems, knowledge into this domain?

Is there not also the risk of losing traffic to the abbreviated versions of these type of names, i.e. how many people would just type LygonSt.com.au or RacecourseRd.com.au.

Probably not a lot, but the doubt might have lead to a decrease in the perceived value and hence the low bidding.

I think it is the obvious "2nd choice" with this kind of name. Not sure what the degree of traffic loss might be, gut feeling is reasonably significant.

It's quite funny how this has almost turned into an "appraisal thread" - particularly when the owner of the domain didn't request or need one!

I'm going to do a "Honan" now.

The knowledgeable people are all right - the rest of you are all wrong. Put yourself into whichever camp you want to be. :)

On a serious note ..........

1. Lygon Street got a mention on ABC Radio News yesterday afternoon. I heard it in Townsville. It said people in Lygon Street were celebrating after Carlton thrashed Essendon
yesterday afternoon. (That event is like an eclipse - doesn't happen very often). ;)

2. This site is quite interesting - streetsonline.com.au. On the homepage, they showcase Upper Heidelberg Road, and if you put your cursor over each building, it lists the actual
shop name, phone number and website. They have a number of street names - some net's; net.au's; com.au's and the good old hyphen! lygon-street.com.au

I've used that site a few times for other streets around Melbourne as it's faster than street view, but the photos are fairly out of date now
