Voting proxy

Are any DNT members apart from the candidates themselves, attending the elections and willing to be my proxy for voting?

If so, please let me know, I and anyone else looking for a proxy and unable to attend the elections will greatly appreciate it.

Another option is that you can also give your proxy to the auDA Chair. If you plan to do this, then make sure you fill out the complete form (including who you wish to vote for) so your instructions are clear.

One of the discrepancies in the voting is if you turn up in person, you essentially vote anonymously. You are given a colored vote form, you tick a box and submit.

If you submit a proxy, it has your name on it, and I think that in itself has implications in the way some votes go.

I'd strongly recommend against doing this, as it has the effect of giving your vote to auDA to do whatever they like with it.

The bottom line is that you are free to for whoever you like. You have two votes, please use them to support the candidates that best represent your interests and those of the community.

Simon,

Do not misrepresent me.

My full advice (not your selective quote of my advice) was to complete the proxy form in full including the voting section.

Are you suggesting that the auDA Chair would alter the fully completed proxy form of an auDA member? Consult your lawyer again before responding to avoid embarrassment.

Simon I must say it is concerning to see you taking Josh's comments out of context. This isn't the 1st time I've seen this happen in recent weeks.

We all want what's best for the domain industry and believe we can work towards this goal in our own separate ways for the good of the industry.

But no good can come out of it misquoting/misrepresenting someone else to put them in a negative light. Of course it may have been a mistake but regardless of the intention, let's all work towards what's best for the industry without resorting to personal arguments and slanting.

Its a shame some keep threatening legal action on this forum for peoples comments which come no where close to any breach of any law..Thats not a very good way to have an open dscussion or debate among candidates

Lets hope forum members dont feel legally "threatened" by anyone and continue to post their questions and advice

Simon's post did not seem to infer or suggest that the auDA Chair would alter the fully completed proxy form of an auDA member... saying it did is simply wrong! Then "threatening" him with this comment is way out of line .... "Consult your lawyer again before responding to avoid embarrassment" did you really need to post it Josh it seems to be you misunderstood his post maybe?

It is definitely not my intention to scare others off from joining the debate and discussion.

My intention was to set the record straight and send a message that it is inappropriate to mis-represent others.

I think the discussion in this forum has been fantastic and I hope that it continues on long after the election is over - regardless of who is elected.

Re-read my original advice and see how Simon selectively quoted part of it which changed the meaning of my original advice. I will not be mis-represented.

Thanks for the feedback (on the lawyer bit). I want to see constructive discussion on this forum. I'll choose better words to communicate my frustration next time.
