cute - love the humour son !!

Now how did I know that this post would generate such a reaction ? :)

Oh ye of little faith !! - try visiting some web hosting forums and sites and indeed Samsung - the "speak" currently is about the extra bandwidth that will be required for both hosting websites with 3D content AND for internet TV and downloading 3D Movies and Games (hence I also have 3DWirelessBroadband.com - this is one of my gems - I will put forward this one for an appraisal later on when you have had a chance to recover from this one). The internet transmission of 3D content, and indeed the storage of 3D Content, will require more than the current broadband capability of the greater majority of hosts and indeed networks - look at the increase in capacity demand for mobile apps for phones, it is growing weekly. Who would have thought 2 years ago that a Giga Bytes would be the standard and that we are not far away from Tera.

See, the hosting is not in a third dimension however to host 3D content will require that specific capability (as it will for a broadband network to transmit it) - hence the term 3D will be part of the upcoming new "speak" as it will be the catalyst for the neccessity to make changes.

QUOTE from Samsung:"

- from a press release "Samsung on Wednesday said it would start streaming some 3D movie trailers over the Internet, establishing a new way for consumers to view 3D content on many of the best 3D TV sets.

"In a couple of years, 3D streaming will be ubiquitous. This is just the first step to make that happen," Manuel said. "The potential is pretty exciting."

Manuel declined to comment on the type of content that the company will deliver through its applications store. However, he acknowledged full-length 3D movies or 3D games could be possibilities. A company representative said Samsung is striking deals with film studios for the trailers.
Movie services like Netflix are already delivering movies in high-definition format, but do not offer 3D streaming yet.

3D content requires considerably more bandwidth than regular video feeds, said Roger Kay, president of Endpoint Technologies Associates. With the public Internet already under strain, quality-of-service and buffering could become issues in streaming 3D movies and online 3D games to homes.

Manuel acknowledged bandwidth is an issue that must be solved before 3D streaming gains a foothold. He said 3D streaming would require 5M bps (bits per second) to 7.5M bps broadband connections, which are already available in about 20 percent of U.S. broadband households. By comparison, streaming 720p high-definition images requires a 2.5M bps broadband connection, Manuel said.

But as bandwidth issues are mitigated, more users will access 3D content, like they access high-definition movies, Kay said. As more 3D content is developed, and hardware like gaming systems and TVs populate homes, the Internet will inevitably become a key content delivery mechanism, Kay said.

END samsung QUOTE:

Quiz for the day: What did they call BROADBAND before it became broadband ??????????????????
What will it be called in 5 years time? Broader band, Wide band, widest band, extremely wide band, broad group (another name for a band :) ), absolutelyhumungouslywideband, .... it will be called something else mark my words (and NO it won't be 3DBand ..... although it should be :) ) those with a crystal ball please contact me.
Most if not all of the better 3D Broadband, 3D Wireless, 3D Hosting etc names are taken ..... either there are some other exceptionally dumb people like me registering such names or some other entrepreneurs with foresight (no need for me to put in a poll - I know how most of you would vote :) )

3D is not Television or a Movie ........ it is a phenonemon (spellcheck please) that is already affecting ISP's / networks.

st domine et filea sanctu espirito domine

you may now be seated - there endeth the lesson - go in peace (go to the library maybe and find a book called "Elightenment - the Industrial revolution begins on wednesday - don't miss it - for one week only" .... first published in 2025 author .... Shags 39 - Entrepreneur with foreskin (site ? sight? see? ) .

Oh by the way son - your Mother said your washing is ready to be picked up (lazy SOB :) )

cheers,
Mike

buggar - I need to delete the above post ...... how do I do that ??? ........ I just found a dot com name available that has both 3D and Broadband in it .......... damn I have let the cat out of the bag - now everyone who reads my post will be frenetically regging similar names - buggar.

How can I delete the market breaking information I have inadvertently included in my post whilst ardently defending my name (certainly not my honour - it was defenceless so I sold it years ago)

Worth reg fee, you can still buy the .net extension plus pretty much every thing else.

Hard to tell what market will take off the near future, if you think 3D is a winner then by all means take a risk with it.

I'm not sure about this one. I never use the term "website hosting". 3DWebHosting or 3DHosting would've been better.

Why would a site in 3d need specialist hosting? Sounds clumsy as well.

Instead of constantly trying to convince us or saying people have no faith it is time to smell the roses and realise all these names are simply worthless. The sooner you can get from denial/anger to acceptance the better off you will be.

A 3D domain in second life would work - set up shop in second life; i think that those types of domains can only be practicle in an environment that supports its application -

For this idea who is going to pay anyway, 3dhosting for a site in a virtual world? That is a real stretch.

I cannot believe what I am reading, are you guys fair dinkum or taking the mickey? what is this crap about a 3d or virtual world? and to think Snoopy there are actually some in here that respect you, and you come up with this jibberish. So the name sounds "clumsy" ....... clumsy is acceptable in the next dimension :) ..... what the hell does clumsy mean?, does it mean you don't like it or does it mean it should be reversed to be webhosting3d ?? Why even bother commenting about the clumsiness or not of the sound or look of the name when it is all fantasy anyway in your considered opinion??

Absolute jibbersih Snoopy ..... and Webponic ........ following snoopy's lead are you?

and Snoopy ......... I will persist with 3D as long as I feel it is going to be worthwhile whether you like it or not ........ there is no need for me to get through the denial / anger phase ...... you must have a short term memory issue or you read very selectively as I have posted a lot of comment on just that specific topic, bearing my soul. I have no idea what you do or did for a living however I do hope you are not / were not a psychologist or counsellor.

Did anyone actually read the comments made by the Samsung head honcho? ...... silly question Mike.

I have no issue whatsoever if you do not like the name ....... afterall it is an appraisal thread ...... but if you have no idea about the topic of the name then don't bother offering an appraisal ......... oh wait, you didn't offer an appraisal, just childish jibberish and ridicule.

I am not trying to "convince" anyone Snoopy, least of all you. It appears one should not explain anything in here, just throw up a name and let everyone figure it out for themselves.

It is getting harder and harder to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys.

I really don't know why I continue to ask for comment in here, rarely is it constructive and considered. I am past being ridiculed about the 3D thing - I know who in here is for 3d, I know who is on the fence and I know who doesn't believe in it - don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to figure that out, so I figure with that decided then it would be on with the game and those that have no interest at all, or no faith at all in 3D would go on their merry way and not bother to comment on topics concerning 3D ....... but no, keep prodding, keep niggling, keep jibbering so you get to see your name in print ..... WHY BOTHER ?

The transfer and storage of 3D content over the internet will require specific bandwidth and frequency capabilites ......... fact of life...(just like you cannot now effectively transfer certain data on a dialup modem ..... technology moves forward out of necessity. Snoopy - not trying to convince you however I though some knowlege may be useful to you - Host companies will be able to store your 3D site content but without purpose built resources / networks it will take an age to transfer / download and hence be useless ...... but that is only true in the virtual world because no-one will have 3D content on their websites will they? Ridicule the name if you like but do not be so foolish as to ridicule technology.

The answer is in my post - try reading it properly this time :D

Shags, your posts are too long, boring, and badly written to ever read fully. Personally the best I can do is skim read them. Do you really think most people read all those paragraphs?

In answer to your clumsy query the term "website hosting" doesn't really gel especially with an extra word in front. Most people would remember it as "web hosting".

I will persist with 3D as long as I feel it is going to be worthwhile whether you like it or not

I guess the worst part is you were telling us how you couldn't get an average of $2 for your domains recently in one lot, so obviously it is not worthwhile. You are a great talker and a very bad listener because even after trying to sell your names and finding they are unsellable you are still arguing these are worthwhile names.

It appears one should not explain anything in here, just throw up a name and let everyone figure it out for themselves.

If a name needs explaining then 99% of the times it is a bad domain.

Too Bad Second LIFE is past the use-by date

i noticed that Melbourne City Council pulled their funding for the internet project to build a virtual city in second life;

shaggs -
About 6 years ago i started to buy 'enviro' keyword domains everything that had 'enviro' in it i bought...everyone thought I was stupid because no-one knew what carbon trading was or what it will be in the future [a bit like cloud computing is today to the everyday web-surfer] but i expected carbon trading and environmental domain awareness to grow and it did 6 years later, its only now starting to gain momentum - however in the next 5 years "enviro" should be an in-demand keyword when bolted to an existing service - like enviro-host, card, credit, home, car, battery...etc, enviro like 3D should be worth good $$$$$ in years to come.

LOL - I own a couple of 3D domains - 3Dlaw.com and 3Dwizardry.com [not for sale] everyone has at least one or two 3D domains in their portfolio...

cheers

Thanks Webponic - a nice and appropriate analogy, cheers,

Snoopy - Not every one of my near 1700 3D names are bad, some are good or should I say will be good so I will never divest all of them. In this case I agree 1000% with you that web hosting is better but it wasn't available :). Now tacking the 3D on it is no different to tacking prime, premium, best, sydney, or any other word that is marketable, 3d in respect to hosting will indeed be marketable, I just happen to have the eleventeenth best name so am way down the queue but I will get something for it one day.

I am going to throw in a couple more names soon for appraisal and they won't be 3D names :)

3D printers are huge, have you seen what you can do with a 3D printer?

3D printers can build a model of an object, one day these printers will simply "print a part" possibly for a computer or any other device even a car part - can you imagine that potential...who would of thought that 5 years ago...?

3Dwebsitehosting could be part of a 3Dcomputing enterprise...its anyone's guess
