Hello everyone,

I've just got back in from Canberra to find a few offers on my email. While we regularly see sales figures we rarely get to see the offers that are being knocked back so I thought others may find this interesting:

[ Domain ] centralcoast.com.au
[ Offer ] $10,000.00
[ On ]NetFleet
[ Result ] rejected

Would be great to see if anyone else has had any recent offers.

I've been offered $20000 previously and knocked it back. The website makes money so it's not just a simple domain name sale. NetFleet's tool values it at around $32000. I've listed it at $50000 but would consider over $35000.

I think 20k is quite a lot of daugh... for a domain name that costs a few bucks.
True, it is developed and generates steady income ... + it is PR3.

Sounds like a perfect project... buy a domain name, develop the site and then sell it for 5 figures.

Btw... out of interest, how much traffic does it get on average? 50 people a day?

Is that 3000 uniques per day (i.e. 90k per month), or 3000 uniques per month? Either way, not a bad stream of traffic!

I think he means 3000 uniques per month, he said daily uniques to mean a visitor would only be counted once per day, not per visit.

Soj is right. 3000 per month with each visitor only counted once per day. So me sitting and hitting refresh all day would still only count as 1 visit for that day.

Also, I've had a new offer of $12,000 tonight. Still a fair way off what I'd let it go for. I don't need to sell and it's doing quite nicely. Has anyone else knocked back any offers lately?

I wish.

What's the best way to develop a domain on the cheap? Is it worth just setting up a simple blog and slowly building backlinks/pagerank?

Hello Cyclo,

Opinion is divided on this one depending on your skills and preferences. I use website templates then edit them manually myself. Professional templates can cost anywhere from $10 - $100. Most of the seo skills, etc can be learned free online by reading articles, etc.

Develop a holder page for the domain then redirect traffic through to a Blogger website. An example of this is www.domainowners.com.au which is testing fairly well so far. I'm yet to roll it out across my portfolio.

If you're running 50 domains or so, this can give a considerable $$$ saving with reasonable results.
