NZ domain names...worth speculating?

There's been quite a few posts from time to time on NZ domains.
In summary, these are the pros and cons imho:
Pros:
1. Almost anyone can buy .co.nz domains - not restricted like Australia.
2. No 6 month rule for resale.
3. Good names are available reasonably cheaply (compared to Australia).
4. No COR fee.
Cons:
1. Small population - 4.5 million - that says it all to me. Resale opportunities limited unless you have an exceptional name.

I always remember a motivational "tape" I heard years ago. It was by Earl Nightingale (yesteryear's equivalent of today's motivational speakers).
It was entitled "Acres of Diamonds". In essence, it encourages people to stay in their own backyard mining the diamonds that are there - rather than travelling far and wide looking for other opportunities.
