i saw an LL.net.au on drops today, just wondering if because it is an LL does that negate the theory of .net.au is much less value ?
i voted no, but interested what others think.

i'm not talking about the paid price, i'm talking about the potential sale price, i think we have all grabbed a bargain and flipped it ( whilst compling with auda rules............)
i've seen many nice domains get picked up for $1 on drop, its the end value i was asking for.

I use an id.au because it's short. It has value for me, I don't need to write as much when writing my email address anywhere.
Typing on the other hand, I use macros for that.

I have dm.net.au which I bought from someone here. I wouldn't have bought a .net.au if it wasn't a ll. That said, I've decided t drop my initials .id.au as it became evident it was pointless just for the sake of owning it. This year is actually a year of drops for me. Ahhh the learning curve.....

YEP, me to, and all the salty dogs here are laughing as usual, we come in buy heaps of sh*t and then let them drop again, but its a good learning curve if you haven't been burnt hard.
i just put the cost down to "education"

tim
Yes, similar cost to a night on the tiles. I only drank that expensive ish $$$

I think it is going to get very little interest. LL.com.au don't get a lot of inquiries in my view. I have one I don't think I have ever had an inquiry in about 12 years (the letter combination is fairly popular). So for a .net.au you've got $10 renewals on something with much lower enduser appeal. I think it is going to be a loss maker.

I used to own the .net and .org of my name and another .com variant. Paid the renewals for maybe 6 years.

At the end of the day though unless you have definite plans to use it is is probably just a big waste of money, and a few of these names can quickly add up in holding costs. As an example at the time I could have bought a lll.com for the amount of money spent renewing those three names ($200). Would have had something valuable instead of a $200 hole in the pocket.

Dm wasn't expensive. Short domains are good for developing other websites. Just not the .id.au as it's confusing.
I hear you though, my drop list is big. It did take me a while to realise i was holding crap. I think i am there now though and do have a few domains that would make mouths water.
