Job board monetisation

G'day!

I was wondering if there are any other job board founders on the forum. I run a job board for backpackers in Australia. The site gets about 30k uniques; 230k impressions per month. However, I don't think I'm taking full advantage of the traffic. I'm currently getting around AU$380 p/m in Adsense revenue. I also have featured paid job postings which brings in a small contribution.

Do you think it is wise to broaden my content to tours, activities and accomodation? Would this dilute my theme as a recruitment site / job board?

Thanks,

Well you could probably be doing something better than the Russian Dating Ad I can see, travel insurance, hire cars, tours ?

You seem have space in the sidebar, so take advantage of it

Hmmm, I'm intrigued as to why Google Adsense would be delivering Russian Dating ads for you. Ad content is automated by Google.

Spacey you have well and truly been busted :)

Matthew your site looks great, I would look at talking with a staff hire company to sell them leads. You could also think about closely related adverts like short term accomodation rentals, car hire etc, these are all things that back packers are likely to want

indeed have a publisher program; but that's going to come down to the amount of referrals you pass on; might provide an additional 10% per month depending on your searches.

If you had more page impressions display and video ads would work well on the website.

Maybe have a chat to careerone or adzuna directly, they might want to take up some premium ad space on your website?

Thanks,

it would appear that you have many out of date listings for jobs, the reason i mention this is i have found that is an important part of getting the "cred" for a site, which breeds word of mouth which will then aid you in placing offshoot advertising like tours etc.

( don't review/slag my sites ! as i have been in a TOTAL redo using these principles for over a year now and 2015 will see it all happen )

essentially you are a directory, directories are TOUGH, i'd suggest for this type that you program an expiry date on listings like 1 month...... just to keep it clean..... if they haven't found a backpacker barmaid in cairns in 1 day !!! then its a S**T hole.

backpackers are CONSTANTLY showing up to pub and hotels and farms etc looking for work, Ingham is a GREAT example, Coffs Harbour as well, they have backpacker hostels that SOLEY provide jobs and accommodation for banana pickers.......... so i would be marketing to them.

the spend X days picking fruit in wagga wagga and get an extra year is HUGE. IMO thats where your money is for this domain. then the offshoots are tours, greyhound bus passes, car hire, backpacker clubs etcccc

its the "white trail" melbourne ( maybe ?), sydney, byron, noosa, airlie, cairns EXIT

and YES spacey..... you are totally BUSTED.
