Great generic .com.au domain sales in the past 15 years?

Doing some random research today, I stumbled accross the domain name and website:

sold.com.au (a great generic name back in 2001) the name was sold to Yahoo with the site for 30 million.

Now my question is does any one have any other examples of generic .com.au domains selling for big dollars in the past?

Even better is how they then closed the site down in 2003, and told people to move to eBay - http://au.docs.yahoo.com/sold/annoucements.html

C'mon James, that has nothing do with a domain sale. It is a bit like selling it a house and calling it "The sale of a door + rest of house". It is a website sale.

"The sale of a door + rest of house"

A door? Seriously Snoopy?

I've always thought of a website and it's domain as a house and land. And this sounds like it was a good house and a great block of land. Give it some credit.

For the $30 million sale of it sold.com.au it is more like the house and the door.

Yes it was a nice door, no that wasn't the main reason for paying $30 million. It is pretty obvious that it wasn't a factor because Yahoo renamed it soon as they bought it and changed it to a Yahoo address (au.sold.yahoo.com). It was about trying to strengthen Yahoo's own miserable auction offering by merging it in, I think that was the motivation.

Slightly off topic, but those guys use australia.creditcards.com for their Aussie site. It will be interesting to see how they rank with that name.

PS. I'm one of their Aussie contributors.

they do ok nothing fantastic seems to have many ranks on page 2 for terms like:

best credit card
best credit cards
credit cards australia
best credit card deals
credit cards for bad credit
credit cards for bad credit

Regards.
