Never used MySpace and probably never will. I would use Google+ though need to be 18+. Also, would use twitter but not enough of my friends use it so there's no point.

I never got into it and I'd delete my account if I didn't need it for Pages. It turns nice people into narcissists who think the world revolves around their comments, pictures (typically taken with hipstamatic or instagram which is beyond retarded) or where they are (dinner, lunch etc). It's turned normal adults into self obsessed narcissists; I can only imagine the impact it's going to have on kids who use it while growing up. I stopped making any comments and posting photos once it came out Facebook has that much data available that they can predict when a couple are going to break up.

I opened a G+ account but deleted it after a few days; it's just as stupid. I use Twitter the most because I can passively follow people/topics I'm interested in without giving too much away.

I dislike Facebook because of all the inane comments. Never used MySpace.

@Jonathan - I use Twitter for similar reasons.

Hardly use it, really only for work purposes.

Not a big fan.. thankfully had the foresight not to add every person I've ever spoken with and have always kept the security tight.

I still use Facebook a bit it is still good for connecting with friends & for all my Pages =)

I am a big fan of Linkedin but I like to keep friends to Facebook and business contacts to Linkedin.

Myspace was a really good site in its popular days around 2005,2006,2007 I use to run a myspace layouts website so I loved it. Do I still use it not really I logged in a few weeks ago to check something, but it is dead and I had like 1000+ people on it...

Twitter is also good for more tech/social media/industry contacts. I use lists on it quite a bit...

Google+ is good too.

What will see in 5 years time, I really think we will see multiple players imo...people will follow the flock if Facebook gets boring, people move to another site it may take 1-2 years but i can happen.

I go through waves for the different social networks. The one I use most is FB though, mainly personal use. I had big hopes for G+, but it just hasn't really taken off (in my opinion). Twitter, never really understood and don't do a great deal with it. Do like LinkedIn though for connecting with business professionals.

For personal use I like the way you can share photos, big news events etc with family and friends as it's a bit less invasive than emailing. At least you know with FB, the people who want to have a look will have a look so it saves worrying about who you should include on a bulk email.

However, I am over the inane/humdrum updates. It sometimes feels like a competition as to who has the cutest kids, the wittiest comments, the most exciting life (the most friends of course).

One thing that's interesting is that, in theory, the platform should reward the most extrovert characters but with my friends, at least, a lot of the frequent posters used to be moreso the quiet types so maybe FB is a way for them to engage where they struggle face to face.

As for business, I struggle to get anything out of FB. I think it suits some businesses better than others.

I have 68 friends in facebook but going to ditch about 20 of them as I politely told them they don't need to suffer and listen to me rant and rave about my mountain biking. However, it has been great to communicate with my kids and grandkids.

I did not like it though to find out that my ex's father had died - that was posted on fb - totally inappropriate.

I guessed my daughter got engaged by a comment

I found my IT person really wasn't doing his job

FB to me has been convenience in keeping up with general family stuff. When I was overseas it helped my family know where I was.

My grandson was a victim of some terrible cyber bullying, and we used out own techniques to fix that problem pronto... scared the bejebus out of the cheeky culprits - but that I will discuss in person only, never on here.

If you're in the web business, as I am often you are forced to know about these technologies because your client ask and I prefer to walk the talk, so I know what they will be experiencing.

But I guess I'm just one of the three people left in AU who doesn't follow it like the rest.. you know those three - the ones that do NOT and have NEVER owned anything apple, ipad or anything that connects to an iPod iPhone or Ipad or whatever.
