Decisions, decisions...

Hi all,

I have a bunch of .com.au domains that I have development plans for but it's getting to crunch time and I have to decide which ones are worth the time and effort. Can I grab your thoughts on the following (I'll mark the ones I think have potential):

  • real estate jobs (potential) [880 exacts / 2.46 suggested bid]
  • property management fees [480 exacts / 6.94 suggested bid]
  • real estate companies (potential) [320 exacts / 3.51 suggested bid]
  • real estate investment (potential) [260 exacts / 9.56 suggested bid]
  • property management jobs [140 exacts / 2.54 suggested bid]
  • jobs in real estate [140 exacts / 4.29 suggested bid]
  • real estate franchise [110 exacts / 2.60 suggested bid]
  • property managers perth [90 exacts / 13.18 suggested bid]
  • property management services (potential) [70 exacts / 10.47 suggested bid]
  • property management companies (potential) [50 exacts / 12.11 suggested bid]
  • property management company
  • property photographer
  • property management service
  • talking property
  • need a property manager
  • need an agent
  • local property managers
  • free property appraisals
  • local property manager
Thanks.

Hi,
I won’t try to place a price on these domains as I am unsure. But, I consider that ‘real estate jobs’ and ‘free property appraisals’ are two that have potential and I have worked in the industry. ‘Property managers Perth’ also has potential but this depends on how you plan to develop these domains. I think with time and a good/basic website that ‘free property appraisals’ might be worth something. You’d need to sign up heaps of agencies throughout Australia and arrange some type of fee agreement where you get paid for leads. I’m guessing real estate jobs would be of interest to specialist/ real estate recruitment agencies and might be worth more to them but I doubt there’s a lack of real estate agents in the market so I’m not sure how’d you would price this domain.
Cheers :)

Thanks MCUH. I have developed Property Managers Perth as a lead gen site but think I'll switch it to a directory type site (domain name seems better suited to that purpose). I think there's a lot of skepticism around the 'free property appraisals' offer from both agents and consumers so discounted it for that reason. Recruitment is pretty important in real estate, because although there are a lot of candidates there is usually also a high turnover rate - I see this being a free job board propped up with paid advertising.

ash, you know i talk straight so you did ask for opinions, what i see here is a lot of sites with ONE missing.... the KEY site ! nothing is tying them together, some are stand alone, some are worthy small directories, some are information sites to link to others or supply leads or affiliate links etc
so, lets go against the grain, perth is localised so you have a win there, the others are really australia wide so thats going to take EFFORT.
the reality is you are not going to get directory paid listings if you do not have rankings.
so what i am saying is maybe get yourself a directory template and pump them out and try to get some rankings , add some content but essentially most of those domains are good for what use to be ....... and now is........ a dirty word l i n k f a r m i n g
whats missing is the key domain, but i think you could make a few sales for directories of many of the domains, its just how much time you put into it really

Thanks Tim, I've decided this morning that I will develop them over the next 3 months and if I don't meet this deadline then I will offer them for sale.

I appreciate the frank opinions/advice.

Realestatejobs.com.au is the best of the list by far. I would only be developing this if you know a lot about the industry. The rest are not strong, some may have resale potential but they are weak in terms of "domainers domains". Rethink your strategy.

i agree with snoopy, real estate investment would be number 2 IMO

Thanks Snoopy and Tim.

Separate question - for purpose of resale do you think it's worth also having the .net.au for realestatejobs?

I am aware of the conversation about brand protection in the other thread, but for purpose of resale do you think it's worth having variants? (I have .net.au and it expires in 2 days).

Thanks for the reality check Demonoid and Snoopy.

I was leaning towards letting it drop but started to second guess myself as the expiry date approached.

Interesting discussion here and also about developing just one site first. I mean we know how much effort it takes to dev a site and market it. That's if you if want it to become a going concern. Let alone a list of sites and business ideas like a lot of us have.
Just interested in your approach, DIY dev or odesk or bespoke?
Also how many you can do properly in 3 months.
Also if there are some you don't bother with because the business idea is not sound enough?
Either way I hope it goes well. Real estate jobs has a fair bit going for it IMO.
