I wonder what is going on? Botox.com.au is dropping tomorrow, and the owner Allergan (previous!) is a client of MelbIT.

I know of several instances where MelbIT clients have not renewed domains, then MelbIT have tried to get them back afterwards. One of their reasons for a domain not being renewed was:

" it lapsed due to an internal administrative error"

But regardless of the above, be aware that anyone who picks this up on the drops will have a fight on their hands. MelbIT will come after it with a vengeance due to TM and other issues.

Once again I know this for a fact as a good friend was threatened with auDRP proceedings over a couple of domains that contained the word "botox".

Caveat Emptor.

Would be nice to have some warning on Drop and Netfleet re: names such as this one.

It is clear this domain has failed to be renewed in error (http://www.allergan.com.au/Products/Overview.aspx).

Damian, I don't think it has anything to do with Netfleet or Drop. It's not their responsibility to look for TM's on domains.

And whilst it is generally wise to steer clear of TM'd domains, bear in mind that a TM does not necessarily preclude you from purchasing a particular domain - lots of other things can come into the decision. :)

NF: $3580 for the .com.au and $31 for the .net.au
Drop: $3579 for the .com.au and (no bids for the .net.au?)

Point being same as Johno69 has made in this thread:

According to todays netfleet bids .net.au is worth about 100th of the .com.au

example being Botox.

Arr it was Dom. "He'll be right"

You think so Zhen?

If this crowd went after others for their minor Botox domains, then Dom will have an expensive fight on his hands if he wants to try and keep the domain - imho.

If MelbIT is still acting for these people that own all the TM'd domains, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the client gets informed what has happened. Heads should roll! :)

Hey Ned,

Understood, guess my view was that this one was not renewed in error. I think it would be a handy feature to have with Drop or Netfleet. Of course it isn't the responsibility of either.

There is no reason for them to bring in a feature like that since it will lower bids and cost them revenue.

Rather then motivation (or lack thereof), I don't see how Drop or NF could ascertain daily which one of the 800 or so domains that drop were dropped in error!

You make a point David :) Even social feedback mechanisms couldn't determine if this was an error or not.

Maybe they did let it drop? I am sure we will find out soon enough.
