A substantial change is just round the corner, the Gutenberg project is replacing the current WYSIWYG editor and introducing the concept of "blocks".

It's caused a lot of controversy in the WordPress community, but it's coming so something most of us will be dealing with on our own, and client sites. I thought I'd start a thread with resources, related plugins, experiences, good or bad etc.

You can already test Gutenberg out as a plugin:

Yes, I decided to bite the bullet to get used to it on a real world project, no major issues. That said, we're still holding off too for all other sites.

Yesterday, the ACF team posted a good piece about their take on things, as well as their roadmap:
