can i get some momentum on a xmas party ? is the something already in the wind?

nothing big, lets make it easy and go somewhere we have already been. i liked the last place in the alley upstairs with the yummy pizzas .

we always have a problem with picking a date so lets start with wednesday 10/12/14 6pm somewhere, anyone know of any MAJOR clashes for that date ? like man landing on the moon again ?

sponsorship appreciated but not expected so everyone bring your wallet.

Just a suggestion from an "out of towner". auDA is having their Christmas function on Tuesday 16 December (always a great spread!), so it would be good to have ours
either on the Monday or Wednesday. That way people can attend both if they want to.

You beat us to the punch Tim. DNTrade admins have actually already discussed getting something started for a Domain Industry Christmas Party in Melbourne and we're currently looking into venue options and sussing out some possible dates (thanks for your suggestion too Ned).

Cooper Mills have already very kindly agreed to help us sponsor the event.

We are also currently seeking out any other sponsors who might like to come on board to help us out.

We'll post about it shortly to get everyones feedback and then we can take it from there :)

Date works ok for me.

I question why they are spending registrant money on stuff like this?

How much could domain prices be reduced by if they didn't waste money and stopped hoarding registrants cash (over $9million in the bank and growing fast).

That's what he indicated, i have no problem with the suggested venue however it may be worth noting time spent downstairs would not see Honan left out of the evening, just a thought

i think there is no doubt we are all responsive to a suitable location for the xmas party for all.

It costs just $22 a year to be a member of auDA, and I reckon it's worth paying that just to attend the Christmas party. Best $22 I have ever spent. ;)

Great to get to know directors and staff on a personal basis too.

As for domain registration prices, that's a separate issue imho.

Spoke to Honan and there is a good chance he wont make it so i have no problems with the venue where we last caught up, my two cents, cheers

Firstly, the function is for auDA members who pay a membership fee each year.

Many of us have campaigned for years to get more auDA engagement with the industry and particularly domainers.

Now auDA put on a modest Christmas Party at their office, which gives all members (including domainer members) an opportunity to come along and talk to auDA staff, and Directors - this facilitates the engagement we campaigned for. I have found it brings together registrants, Registrars, consumer advocates and everyone in between.

On another note I look forward to catching up with Snoopy and other members here at the Domainer Xmas Function which we are happy to help sponsor.

Why not come along snoopy, and check out where some of your money is going. I went last year, and yeah some of the Hors d'oeuvres where a bit better than party pies, granted. Still another good industry catchup either way.
