Plucky

Is there any inherent value in one word dictionary terms or is it more so dependent on how they are developed?

I registered plucky(.com.au) a while ago for a spin-off project and was just curious if there's any value in the name alone?

Thanks, Ash.

I think the best brandables are the type that incorporate a meaning, i guess to me it 'plucky' would mean 'upbeat or courage' although unsure how it translates into a money making venture. One of my brandables is compressy/com. I feel it is self naming and you know what it's purpose would be, but like all brandables, at the end of the day it can be a lottery

Thanks Spacey, it was going to be a spin off of my lucky dip design site. Get plucky and enter the lucky dip - that kind of thing. But in the meantime I was just curious if there was any inherent value in the domain itself - but sounds like the answer is 'not really'.

Cheers, Ash.

I don't think the undeveloped domain has much resale value. You could get lucky, but I wouldn't hold my breath!

Decent name for a brand though, if you've got a suitable concept.

There's still a lot available in .com.au in terms of brandables, either for reg fee or cheap private buy.

I registered Namely.com.au not that long ago for a project (which didn't happen in the end). Similar sort of quality and it was also available for reg fee. My point is .com.au brandables is not the path to riches! :p

i have to disagree and i am sure many others would as well ( if they would actually post ! )

its what you class as "brandable" , anything is brandable....... " youi " for example, it just takes $$$$$$$$$ , crap name.

even "specsavers" was probably a hand reg.

opsm, telstra, optus, vodaphone, caltex, shannons.

compare that to generics like that explain themselves:

supercheapauto, carsales, realestate and you get a different budget and path to success. IMO

i have no doubt there is an easily brandable name is a path to wealth

i think the brandable .com market is much more attractive than the local extension, some of the names mentioned above were around well before the internet …. still a lottery in my view

realestate and carsales were not brands before the internet, they were just very close to the start and they built them into brands.

caltex and opsm come to mind as old school companies, meaning they did not rely on a catchy internet name. Either way plucky is still a lottery as are many others, but if you truly feel these are the go let's just say tanty.com.au is up grabs ….cheers !

I think you missed my key points Tim! :p

I was talking about straight up resale for the domain name only, because that's what was asked!
