Are back orders coming back?

things have changed since my last post on this subject, we are having heaps of domains dropping from large stockholders all in one day, just look at the plumbers, optoms, gardensheds and recently the flowers domains.

Could NF please advise when backorders will be available again? I know a number of members who are interested in placing them and the Netfleet Backorder section has been saying that it will be available again soon for some months now.

it would be great to get a reply like , "yes, we are thinking @ april" or " its not coming back ever " then at least we would know.

I'd want to place another backorder.

Guys can we show NF that we want this service back up and running by posting +1.

Cheers

I've been in contact with NF for months regarding the backorders - I'm told they are coming back, just no fixed date for their return.

A big +1 for me to get them back up and running as the other backorder providers don't stand a chance against NF currently for competitive domains.

Supply and demand... backorders could end up being quite expensive if/when they are re-introduced.

They need to be supplied on a level playing field, to hold some back seems suspect in my view , older members will remember what i am referring to

I reckon there is as much chance of backorders re-appearing as there is of either Carlton or the West Coast Eagles winning a premiership flag this year. (I didn't mention Collingwood so as not to upset Spacey).

And if they did bring them back, there would probably be so many exclusions.

When you think about it, there is just no benefit to Netfleet to do so.

  1. Their blind auction system will have people probably paying more than the $199 b/order fee for any half decent name;

  2. If they don't snap it (and Drop wins it), then they have a peed off customer and egg on their face.

Sorry to say it, but if I ran NF, I wouldn't be bringing them back.

But hey, I might be wrong ........

Great analogy and one that holds very true :)

Assuming the backordered name is any good. I have a number of clients who are interested in backordering domains for piece of mind.

I personally think it's a great service and have had good results with it in the past.

Did you give them a "piece of your mind" Joel - or did you mean "peace of mind"? :D

It is a great service, but to my mind you've just highlighted one of the very reason's they won't re-introduce the service.

Imho.

Ha :) The latter of course!

The major benefit for NF is they get cash in the bank (a bird in the hand etc).

Making a back order is a massive gamble for buyers that doesn't always pay off.

(eg: b*bies, ch*ldren, @cne all just got renewed today after being close to being dropped)

And as they have retained the option of not making premium domains available, they have limited their downside.

Yep - that's appealing. However, I think NF have seen a few examples of b/orders being bid to telephone numbers on Drop - and thus they count potential cost / loss.

Yep - you're right. I have won quite a few domains on Drop that were b/orders on NF.

And as they have retained the option of not making premium domains available, they have limited their downside.

Yep you're right again. But as per your examples above, those domains would never have made the cut i.e. they would have been excluded. And that leads to the next point - it's just too difficult for NF to try and guesstimate which domains are potentially more valuable than $199 - that's why I believe they will leave it.

Anyway, as I said previously, I might be wrong - and NF will surprise me (us). But I am a betting man - fancy a decent wager BF? ;)

You just agreed with everything I said and you still want to argue? (Snoopy - I've got a live one)

I think the only back order I saw go big was hardware? What others were there?

As for a bet, would you consider your best domain against my best domain?

I was trying to be polite. ;)

Should have kept it short and simple and said " I'm prepared to wager they won't come back (in their previous state) anytime soon. And to qualify that; let's say within 6 months from now.

I'll bet you $199. Are we on?
