they are REALLY GREAT, great bunch of people, regulars, newbies, wannabies, business people who know nothing.
always good presentations and the format is fantastic, it goes BEER, then short presentation, then BEER and conversation, then short presentation, then BEER and conversation
+ cheap meals on the menu
seriously the presentations are GREATTTT, and the breaks allow you to actually talk to the presenters and discuss in finer detail their presentations + discuss with everyone else, its a real network situation.
I've been going for almost 2 years now, and the format keeps improving.
if you are in MELB then I think you should be attending.

Yes, the Melbourne SEO Meetup is a great monthly event. If you are in Melbourne sometime James, it would be great to see you there.
