One thing I have learnt over the past 1.5 years since being on DNTrade and being interested in buying domain names is that value comes from quality generic names.

Buy less hand registered names and focus on good names from the aftermarket platforms. You will pay more for good domains but if you develop them they are worth the investment.

You can pick up some really great names for $500 - $1000 or even less if you're good at negotiating. Having said that still keep a look out for hand registrations, especially in evolving markets and new industries.

I'm not good at appraisals but if you can sell one of the domains you have listed for $150 you have not necessarily wasted your money.

If this is your first attempt, then it's by no means the worst I've seen!

You need to think about the commercial value - who would buy these names, and how would it be of benefit to them. Kvk is the pick of the bunch.. worth holding on to imo. Don't mind jobscout as a brandable, but that does not mean it has value.

Browse through the archives on this site to get a feel for values.

We all registered a few duds on the beginning :)

Three letter domains are keepers right? I've got a few others, all letters, no Z's or Y's and pronounceable.

Firework is a brand-able domain is it not?

Thanks for the positiveness, other forums I've been on just insult me. I'm learning and I'm very interested in everything to do with DNTrading as I've done a bit of website design in the past.

Unregistered will be less likely to sell if bought yeah?

You look for sale history, current price and who would be interested in it yeah?

What sort of money do I have to get into this with? 1-2K for three four domains?

I agree that purchasing aftermarket domains for a similar amount spent on hand reg's is a better strategy, plus you only have one renewal fee to deal with, part of domaining is making mistakes and learning from them, some great names listed here lately

when it all comes down to it a domain is worth what the end user will pay for it ! I think its that simple, it may go from domainer to domainer to developer but in the end everything is worth nothing until its SOLD.

same for flat screen TV's :)

the game is to BUY correctly, I feel same as established real estate ideas " location location location"

that location might be now eg: doctor, or it may be visionary eg: 5dTV ?

Surely there is hundreds/thousands of similar names available? fvk.com.au doesn't sound like a keeper to me.
