Hi all, starting a new thread for September.

First one for the month is:

Happy.com.au 2,001 - Netfleet

Cheers,
Chris

Once again, it just shows you have to bid on both platforms.

I picked up Glucosamine.com.au on Drop.com.au for just $1.

6600 Exacts @ $0.70 - high competition.

Yet I was outbid by someone on Netfleet who unsuccessfully bid $320.

Happy Father's Day!

Nice one Ned :)

I'm with you, another great example of why you should bid on both platforms.

Cheers,
Chris

Seems a double congratulations are in order as on the same day BuyersAgentMelbourne.com.au went the other way, only $72 at Netfleet compared to $180 at drop. Once again the registrant was the winner when Netfleet picked it up.

Self congratulation is a definite sign of insecurity / sensitivity Anthony. ;)

$1 pickup versus a $320 bid is newsworthy for a single word generic domain with such high search volume.

Though I must say there have been a few bids on Drop in past weeks where I have scratched my head. Some people bid in the $100's and $200's, yet I have picked the same domains up for $10 on Netfleet. These people bidding on Drop either don't know about NF (unlikely); or don't have an account there; or don't bid for some other reason.

highinterestsavingsaccount.com.au

I picked this up today on Netfleet for what I thought was a more than reasonable price. Thanks NF.

Interestingly, I then had offers from a couple of members to buy their "similar" domains. I admire their entrepreneurship. (I ended up buying one via their BIN listing on Netfleet).

But if anyone else is going to approach me, please make sure your domain/s have decent search and are priced to sell. ;)

Bear in mind that highinterestsavingsaccount.com.au has 4,400 exacts @ $5.05 with high competition.

Cheers, Ned

Drop's resurgence continues.

Once again it surprises me that people that bid on Netfleet don't also bid on Drop.

Classic example today is that I picked up NewCarInsurance.com.au on Drop today for just $1 - yet according to the belated bidding history on NF there were 5 bidders - top bid was $211.

Thanks Drop.

Netfleet has more than 20 000 clients now many of whom are not aware that drop exists, there is no need to be confused.

Perhaps Drop could increase their customer base by doing a mailout to people who bought domains on Netfleet auctions? They could harvest the email addresses from WhoIs.

Oops sorry - cancel that; that wouldn't be proper. ;)

On a serious note, if Drop keep up their results, human nature will dictate that unsuccessful bidders on NF will find out about Drop.

Very amusing, lucky that was before my time.

I agree with you that if any drop catcher keeps up a success rate for a period of time they will naturally and fairly gain market share so why are the white knights playing dirty?

The bidding will gradually pick as people see them getting more competitive. Suspect a good chunk would have given up bidding on Drop during their period of non performance.

I believe Drop has been following its practices since it began. The difference now is that they are more competitive and I assume it's because NF has the potential to loose around $400,000 dollars a year (based on about $1000 a day) that you are crying foul.

I think Drop got their stats a little wrong on soft.com.au.

Showing as 5400 exacts on their platform - should be 720.

But I guess people would do their own checking anyway.

Well done today Netfleet - you have got some of your old mojo back.

(Don't know why you had to engage in fun and games last week - just compete naturally like this)! ;)

And well done to Drop as well - whilst you didn't pick up a whole swag, you are definitely more competitive.

As a domainer, I love to see two competitive platforms going at it each day. It's healthy.

Anyone else had fun with the geo domains today?

Starting with a small bank, I scored one so I'm happy. :)

We have been actively tracking the drops for years per Auction Intelligence and while the market is extensive, the same names pop up daily, particularly in .au. The key in .au is active users.

Do you also track if any of the dropping domains are manually re-registered within lets say 48 hours? Which would indicate that some are monitoring but not using NF or Drop.

I'd be interested to know how that kind of activity compares to the auctions.
