Wow I accidently placed a zero at the end of my bid and freaked out - so I hit the buy now thinking someone could go nuts on a bid...its scary not able change a proxy when a bid is placed...I saw the domain yesterday and wanted to bid on it, I'm sure the domain was won for like $35 bucks....hireatruck

Oh, never think for a moment you can expect to bid on the drops when in Disneyland...it drove me crazy.

Ouch, I feel for you Webponic.

But fyi, you can change your proxy on Netfleet. You simply enter the revised bid, click "bid", and even if it is lower, it will update. (Obviously you can't go below the previous high bid).

Drop.com.au has the same feature.

Cheers, Ned

LOL. Really? LOL

Oh well the who sold it will be happy with the result. I'm just glad it wasn't $3500

Having made my previous comments, I'm not sure how NF's system works where there is a "buy it now" price.

If you entered a bid of $3500, this was far in excess of the BIN of $599, so it may automatically award the domain to you - and not allow you to alter the proxy bid.

I'm sure Anthony will clarify.

I thought it would automatically purchace it, but seeing it didn't I decided to hit the bin

If you make a bid that is over the BIN you will get an error message along the lines of "you are making an offer over the BIN price, please amend your bid to match the BIN price".
This was a safeguard for a situation just like this one.

In theory you could have just entered your $350 proxy instead of hitting the BIN.

Hi Anthony, I didn't get that message - the strange part was the auction price was less than my proxy bid? So I decided to hit the bin just in case someone bids beyond. I know next time that the proxy can be changed.

Can you bid beyond the bin?

At the moment you cannot bid beyond the BIN.

If you are using the /auction/ interface you will get a red flag on the left side of the screen, if you mouse over that icon you will see the error message.

If you are using the netfleet.com.au/xyz.com.au interface then the message will appear on the screen.

Looks like NF caught it.

My question is now.. With NF catching the domain, and the auction not being finished for 3 more days. Will it go to the highest bidder in 3 days?

Almost has to doesn't it?

Well, I had a bid at $10 just in case, but got pipped by the party that apparently won it for $11.

But the domain is still active, because I just had another bid at 2.16pm AEDT - I bumped it up to $34.

I guess it is a glitch - doesn't happen very often, so I don't have a problem.

Today's drops

There seems to be a huge number of drops today - maybe though I've just never really checked properly before?

By my count on NF, today there are:

  • 32 aftermarket domains

  • 1584 Aussie dropping domains (did not include Kiwi ones).
Is that bigger than normal?

Yes I think so Ned - think it's normally around 1,000.

Despite the volume, doesn't look to be much quality judging by the bidding

AllansMusic.com.au

Be interesting to see who the "new registrant" of AllansMusic.com.au is (on the drops today).

Whoever it is, I reckon they will be in for a shit fight with the new owners of Allans Music / Billy Hyde (unless of course they are associated with them).

I've noticed the person (Gregory McKenzie from netevolution) that bought allansmusic.com.au does some strange things with their domains. They convert it to their other sites like this: EarlyDays.net.au, lifestyle-media.com.au, kid-and-teen-media.com.au.

Doesn't look like he's selling them or using them for any SEO purpose. Whats the point of buying them?
