business wants domain

Hi Guys,

Just a question, someone has offered me a high page rank domain which dropped from a company which changed their name slightly and I was going to use it for a blog for SEO purposes.

If that old company realises they want their domain name back, am I obliged to hand it back? do i have any rights even if my blog has nothing to do with what their business did?

hmm, i just checked and part of the domain is (the company name part).

eg. CompanyNameToys.com

I wouldn't... but I have no doubt many would.

i wouldn't , but,

if the domain is johnsmithtoys.com and the trade mark is johnsmith and they are real estate agents then you should have nothing to worry about.

if you feel this domain will be a MAJOR asset to your business strategy then contact a domain name/ trademark lawyer, it could well save you thousands in the end.

if you do not think its going to make you thousandssssssssss then leave it alone.

Same issue here... the domain had lapsed and I caught and the business wants the domain back, I don’t have an issue releasing the domain to them.

I registered it a few days ago, how long is the waiting period to initiate the transfer/ownership.

Hi, had a slightly similar issue.

Purchased a site off Flippa, did a fair bit of homework first.

Now I find that the owner had let it drop without realizing it.

Not sure why, but the seller got permanently banned from Flippa straight after this sale and the transfer went through.

I have never heard from the previous owner.

Interesting topic.
