I'm back with more feedback...
OK so today I accidentally typed in a domain that I own that is listed with NetFleet into Google and I saw this:
Which sort of shocked me at first because I never thought Google would index the NF sales page.
But then it got me thinking. I wonder if those domain catalogue listing pages could be tweaked a bit so that they were better SEOed and potentially started to rank for some other terms.
Surely that would improve the odds of selling a domain if it is being seen by more people.
Whilst I have a decent amount of experience with SEO I'm sure a few of the SEO specialists on these forums would have more/better advice.
That said a few of the obvious things I would change page titles, more autogenerated and unique content.
In regards to page titles, I'd probably switch them from:
DomainURL.com.au » Domain Name For Sale | Netfleet : Australia's No. 1 Domain Name Trading platform
To something more like
DomainURL.com.au | Domain For Sale | Domain Keywords | NetFleet
So in my example it would be:
CheapSEO.com.au | Domain For Sale | Cheap SEO | NetFleet
I just think it's much shorter and less spammy given that you guys no doubt have tens of thousands of pages where the bulk of the page titles are made up of the exact same phrase "Domain Name For Sale | Netfleet : Australia's No. 1 Domain Name Trading platform". In my experience this hurts Google rankings a lot.
Then on the page itself I like how you have tried auto generate some sales copy that includes the domain and the keywords. Whilst obviously not the "high quality" content that Google is going to push to the top of the SERPS, this sorts of legitimate database derived information might be enough get Google to at least index most pages and have them appearing in the SERPS, even if only on page 2+ for longer tail keywords.
That said, I think you could potentially look to do a bit more to add some unique and original content.
Like for example rather than just saying "More than 260 people search for "cheap seo" every month, and more than 880 search for a phrase that includes the word(s) "cheap seo"."
You could actually go on to list say 5 of the related phrases, which in this case would be:
"cheap seo services"
"cheap seo packages"
"cheap seo service"
"cheap seo company"
"cheap seo australia"
Which would be unique and original to that page.
Then to add another line of auto generated content you could say something like:
Google also charges $XX per visitors for phrases related to "keyword" via their AdWords program.
Then in the research section rather than just saying "To find out the value of CheapSeo.com.au, check out all our recent sales in the Research section" why not allow sellers to list up to 5 comparable sales to help with unique content.
So on this page that might include:
seogoldcoast.com.au $1,460
seotraining.com.au $769
seocourses.com.au $689
seooptimisation.com.au $502
seofirms.com.au $301
Then I'd probably follow up with an auto generated line like:
Buy DomainURL.com.au today for only $XXXX by clicking the buy it now button or submit your best offer for the owners consideration.
Followed by both the BIN button and the Make Offer button.
Then on top of this you could also give the sellers more opportunity to add some unique and original content themselves.
You could potentially allow sellers to answer some auto generated questions like:
Why are you selling DomainURL?
Why did you buy DomainURL?
What would DomainURL be good for?
etc
Then hopefully after all of this there would be enough unique and original content on all of the pages that Google would be willing to index and rank them.
What's everyone's thoughts?
