Movie question

I have been trying to hunt down a movie a i watched about five years ago and so far no luck so i am hoping someone here may have also watched it and can share the name with me ??

The film is based on an american farm where after a wild storm the family wake to see the resulting devestation and also that none of their neighbours seem to be about ?? ..... they search the adjouring farms and still cannot find anyone

They then go into town and discover the remaining townsfolk have turned 'bad' .....something's not right ! So with much haste they return to the farm where a stranger arrives and starts to preach some heavy religious stuff about the end of the world , there is eventually a confrontation between the husband/farmer and this religious whacko ......then the unexpected happens ( i wont give away the ending) but if you seen this movie you will know what it is and hopefully you will also know the movie ??

Can you tell me the name of the film? At first i thought it was called 'the storm' but it seems i am wrong and now i can't find it or any reference on imdb.com ........any suggestions much appreciated

It's not called 'The Happening' is it?

I only remember parts of this movie and know there was a farm scene in it somewhere. The part about people acting strange sounds like a similar plot line.

No the only city is just a small town which is visited after the initial begining which takes place on the farm ...........close but no cigar , thanks

although i do believe "The" is part of the title, the film mainly involves the family and the strange preacher who arrives after the storm

Hey well done, it was bugging that i knew storm was in the title , many thanks indeed, boy oh boy didn't get much glory on imdb.com but i still wanna watch it again ............maybe on friday when the world ends (spooky)
