city.com.au dropping..

I was just checking the Drop-List from AUDA and found out that there are quite a few domain names in Policy Delete status from the same owner and looks like they'll be dropping in a few days.

This includes the domain name city.com.au which was sold on Snapper end of last year or early this year for around $2000-$3000.

This and many other domains from the same owner are on Policy Delete status and as far as I can see, they're generic domain names..

Does anyone know what's going on here?

Cheers,

This is what I got about "Client Requested Policy Delete" from Drop's Knowledge Base.

Whois display: Status: pendingDelete (Client requested policy delete)

This status applies to domain names that are deleted for breach of an auDA Published Policy (known as “policy deletes”):

a) domain name is removed from the DNS (ie. no longer works on the Internet);
b) domain name enters “serverTransferProhibited”, “serverUpdateProhibited” and “pendingDelete” status for 14 calendar days;
c) domain name can be reactivated on auDA’s instruction during the 14 calendar day period;
d) after 14 calendar days, domain name is purged from the registry at a random time between 10.30am and 5.00pm AEST (or 11.30am and 6.00pm AEDT) on the next business day.

So the owner has 14 days to do things right if he has any chances to get it right that is but it looks like the owner only has 2days left until the domains purge.

Good luck to the owner..

Is there a way to know what the reason behind the PD is?

Because im interested in buying two of the domains dropping tomorrow. And I obeviously dont want them taken off me.

If someone could explain a little more, will be greatly appreciated!

I don't really get it either... Shaun has plenty of domains... understand why these would be dropping...

Cheers

I have no idea as to why all these domains are in "P.D.", but I understand that the current registrant has only become aware of the situation today.

The 14 days obviously started ticking just prior to Christmas - and in the intervening holiday period, communication for all parties would be most difficult I imagine.

The thing that amazes me though is that auDA's offices were closed over this period, so how could anyone respond anyway!

Even the Courts don't count time over the Christmas / New Year period. So let's hope some common sense and natural justice will be forthcoming. An extension of time seems warranted imho.

Pending Delete domains may be restored by the deleting party at any time up until they are purged. If you check the whois you will find city.com.au is in status "ok" along with the rest of them, so our system has removed them to avoid confusion.

Wow. Prime example of why this "shoot first, ask questions later" policy needs to be changed!

What a clusterf*@k. Shaun must of pissed his pants this morning.

I guess that will teach him for not sending auDA a Christmas card?

This would be my worst nightmare.

Hopefully some sanity prevails.

I am not sure of any of the specifics, however, it would have to be a pretty good reason to PD so many generics.

This is another reason why the abn rule should be abolished (regardless of if this is abn related or not).

Best of luck Shaun.

having said that, it appears that most have been removed from the snapper list now, so hopefully the situation has been resolved and that it was just an oversight.
