Aftermarket Auctions Are Back!

Hi All

Delighted to announce the long awaited relaunch of our popular Aftermarket Auctions platform on Netfleet. Quite different from our previous platform, we now have the ability to run multiple auctions at any one time. What's more, is that each seller is given the option to choose their own, unique URL displaying only their domain names for sale. Sellers can also choose the length each domain name will run for.

Also, we are running a special until the end of the year with $0 listing fees (we are still charging the 4% reserve fee however)

You'll find more information on our blog and in our support centre knowledgebase:

https://www.netfleet.com.au/blog/aftermarket-auctions/aftermarket-auctions-are-back/

Please let us know if you come across any bugs, or have any questions on the whole process

Thanks
Mark

It's great to see the new face of AMA! Well done and congrats~!

I've just listed one of my domains just to have a taste of how the listing process works and it says it's still validating after 30mins. How long does the validation take?

And is it still $100 minimum to bid on the auction?

Cheers

Thanks!

When it's validating it means it's waiting for you to click on a link that was sent to the email address registered for that domain in the registry. This is to confirm domain ownership. You only ever need to validate an email address once so all future domains registered with that address will go straight through

Did you receive that email?

And yes $100 is the starting/minimum bid

Hi Mark

Well done with the new auctions

This section on page - https://www.netfleet.com.au/members.php?a=promote:

As a seller (REGISTERED FOR GST), by participating in the Aftermarket Auctions:

I hereby acknowledge that by listing a domain name in the Aftermarket Auction I am entering a legally binding contract to sell the domain name if there is a winning bid for my domain name and the reserve (if any) has been met at the close of auction
I hereby confirm that I am not registered for GST.

Should that read "I hereby confirm that I am registered for GST." ?

yes, I've received the confirmation email and It went through shortly after that.

I've also sent you an email regarding a few minor things that I found while I was going through the process.

Cheers

Awesome news!

:D

Quite different from our previous platform, we now have the ability to run multiple auctions at any one time.
So it says that all auctions end at 2:30pm (AEDT – Sydney Time). A present it looks like it is ocucring at 1:30pm for me, but I'm in Brisbane so I assume that is to do with daylight savings, but will it always be your intention to have the AMA's end 30 minutes after the expiry auction?

I think having it within 30 minutes of the expiry auction is a great idea - should help to keep people around after the snapper auctions.

So do you guys plan to do any cross promotion on the snapper auctions- ie, when the snapper auctions finish for a day maybe have a message come up saying "aftermarket auction closing in XX minutes - click here to see today's listings!" or anything like that?

What's more, is that each seller is given the option to choose their own, unique URL displaying only their domain names for sale. Sellers can also choose the length each domain name will run for.
Also just to clarify, when you say there is the option to use your own unique URL, that URL points to all the domains that an individual members lists? Is there any feature that allows us to link to an individual domain within a list?

Also is there a page where someone could go to see all the domains that are being sold that day?

Also, we are running a special until the end of the year with $0 listing fees (we are still charging the 4% reserve fee however)
Very awesome news!

Note: The Reserve price below needs to INCLUDE Transfer (Change of Registrant) costs, GST and our commission on any sales, as the buyer will ONLY be paying the winning bid amount.
Definitely good news for buyers - bad news for sellers.

Can I ask why this change was made? Doesn't this now make it different to people bidding in the standard catalogue and snapper auctions?

Would it be better to just dropped the initial bid price to something like $77 to compensate people for GST and COR and to keep the tax and transfer process the same across all platforms?

Netfleet Assisted Sales
Very interesting news! So is netfleet looking to become a complete sales solution?

Looks like you guys are an automated COR process away from the process being completely hands off for the seller. Is one in the works?

:D

Glad to hear! Over the next few days we will be smoothing the process from a user experience POV as we understand it may be a little confusing at present.

Exactly - it is positioned 30 minutes following the snapper auctions so you can jump from one to the other, every single day.

So do you guys plan to do any cross promotion on the snapper auctions- ie, when the snapper auctions finish for a day maybe have a message come up saying "aftermarket auction closing in XX minutes - click here to see today's listings!" or anything like that?

For sure.

Also just to clarify, when you say there is the option to use your own unique URL, that URL points to all the domains that an individual members lists? Is there any feature that allows us to link to an individual domain within a list?

Sort of. The main Aftermarket Auctions page has a search function, so to direct buyers to a specific domain you could enter that as the URL, for example:

http://www.netfleet.com.au/aftermarket-auctions?search=contentsinsurancecomparison.com.au

Which would show only that domain, and the auction it is sitting in. (please note we are currently updating this page but that functionality will remain)

Also is there a page where someone could go to see all the domains that are being sold that day?

Yes - Hot Domains. This shows all domain names that are due to end in the next 24 hours, or if that is less than 125 domains, it will show the next 125 domain due to end, plus some domains we think are 'hot'!

Can I ask why this change was made? Doesn't this now make it different to people bidding in the standard catalogue and snapper auctions?

Would it be better to just dropped the initial bid price to something like $77 to compensate people for GST and COR and to keep the tax and transfer process the same across all platforms?

We will be rolling this out across standard listings too in time. End users being hit with a COR fee and GST on top is a surprise to many. We want the price listed to be the price paid.

As long as sellers factor COR and GST in (where applicable) when deciding whether to list or set a reserve price, I don't see why they would mind?

Very interesting news! So is netfleet looking to become a complete sales solution?

Looks like you guys are an automated COR process away from the process being completely hands off for the seller. Is one in the works?

Yes.

Thanks for feedback Chris!

Good to see it back. Can we see metrics for the domain like in the drops

Yes hopefully - although it would be in version 2...

I just noticed that we have to "Join" again? Is this the case, even if we have previously bought domains via the NF Snapper and AMA platforms?

Cool.

What happens if there is more than 125 domains dropping in the next 24 hours?

Also what determines a domain that "we think are hot"?

Speaking of promoting domains, if someone lists 50 domains for sale would they be able to promote the whole auctions with netfleet credits rather than just individual domains?

As long as things are consistent I think that is the most important thing. The fact that CORs have dropped a lot recently does make a big difference too.

Yes hopefully - although it would be in version 2...
Version 2!?! When might we be seeing version 2? and what other goodies might be rolled out with it?

Glad this is back :)

Just wondering if this is tied in with the Netfleet Alerts? I noticed one of my keywords in an auction listing, but don't recall getting an email.

If it's not, it would be handy to know if a name with a keyword match is going to auction.

Currently yes you have to join the AMA - it's a quick process that captures registrant info needed in the event you win an auction.

What happens if there is more than 125 domains dropping in the next 24 hours?

Also what determines a domain that "we think are hot"?

125 is a hard limit only if there are less than 125 in the next 24 hours - if there are more than 125 domains closing, they will all be shown.

Speaking of promoting domains, if someone lists 50 domains for sale would they be able to promote the whole auctions with netfleet credits rather than just individual domains?

Possibly - although at the moment only applies to standard listings.

As soon as Anthony recovers from rolling out v1 :)

Glad this is back :)

Ah, we forgot to switch this on for the AMA. Will get it set up for tomorrow

I recently tried to list a domain for sale, and in that process I had to submit my bank details - but I kept getting an error for my BSB number - and I think it might be because my BSB is only 6 digits.

Has anyone else has this problem?

If you click on the little
icon on the platform, it will indicate your bid status. It is colour coded too when logged in - green is good, red is bad. Also, each domain has a little tick next to each for no reserve, or padlock next to ones with a reserve (soon to change this icon to an icon that indicates 'reserve' - which is actually hard to find!)

I think most of BSB numbers are 6 digits aren't they?

Try this format 123-456 with hyphen.

Correct - sorry this is a little oversight - it demands a dash/hyphen. We'll change so it accepts with or without, but like logicstorm says, adding the dash will work.

Well IMO this is neutral in reality for both buyers and sellers - at the end of the day it's a fee that has to be charged somewhere in the middle.

Actually from a marketing POV, I think it's much better this way. Unlike the drops, the aftermarket auctions give a chance for retail buyers to be involved.

If they see a listing at $300 say and see they need to pay COR on top, they may investigate with their favourite registrar and find out that COR costs $339 and decide against bidding altogether.

If they see the price at $320 all inclusive, they are much more likely to have a crack

I do agree probably best to have the same across all platforms though
