It is certainly brandable Just not as brandable as say webhosting.net.au

trying to wrap my head around these .au is confusing some days they go for next to nothing then others thousands, I can see why law.net.au went for what it did for example.

any reason this name went so high I mean it's a .net.au after all and not really that brandable

It is a keyword domain. eBooks have been taking the word by storm for a while now. Just put the term into Google and you'll see what I mean.

As for it being a .net.au, the fact is the .com.au is unlikely to be available to purchase at anything under 5 figures. So the next best choice is ............ ;)

Definitely not worth it

It all comes down to consumer mentality. If you are dealing with digital content and services I find .net's work a treat. If however dealing with tangible goods, services and other traditional business, I don't think a .net is suitable.

Disclaimer: I have .net.au domain names.

Anything is brandable.

The fact that it is a generic keyword makes it easier to brand imho.

The fact that it is a generic keyword makes it easier to rank imho.

Ok thanks so any generic keyword domain with a .net.au that has all extensions taken is worth at least a few hundred bucks however others think any .net.au is worth nothing....

I have quite a few .net.au and wondering if I should stop buying them
I have motel finance and have it ranked at #7 on google so I know a .net.au can rank fine it was sitting at #4.

I have written a couple of Ebooks so am aware that they get searched quite a bit.

I think any domain can rank fine, even a .biz or .info, its more a case of in what field, also how much time and money you can invest. So although it may rank fine, it will probably never beat a .com or .com.au

I think its just way harder using anything but the main extensions :)

No, not any generic keyword. Each one judged on its merits.

There are quite a few high value .net.au domains out there that also rank very well.

Google the term "life insurance" and see what ranks No 1. That to me is easily a 5 figure value.

ok so if it is ranked on the top of Google or can be ranked in the top has a good cpc value or development potential and as such can be sold to a a large company or developed, it would be worth registering or holding onto?

say for arguments sake I owned businessfinance.net.au

ranked on the top of Google for business finance and had a site attached

that dealt in short term business loans ranging from $15000 and above.
and earned say $1200 per loan

however this site was 2 weeks old has not got any loans yet so really is only worth the domain and design value which may of been made using wix so really domain value only.

Someone else owns the name businessloans.net.au

ranks in the top of google for business loans site is a autoblog or simply parked.
which one is worth more?

abc.net.au << doesn't get any bigger for a Aussie site
Plus ebooks is an excellent keyword

Interesting, e-Books/com/au went for (on the drops) about $180 about 3 months ago. A good comparison for the .net.au vs hyphen .com.au domain debate.
