To use your words ......vanity domain name
Was surprised to see this one of drop, $2,
I was under the impression that ll.com.au got a few hundred minimum and I would have thought nn.com.au would be similar or higher.
Are both or one of those assumptions wrong?
Cheers,
Both your assumptions were correct. I can't believe it went for so little!
I was also surprised to see ix.com.au sell on NF yesterday for $233, which is the lowest I have seen a LL.com.au domain sell at the drops. When I looked earlier I thought it was .net.au, wasn't till after the auction I noticed it was a .com.au (at which time I proceeded to kick myself).
Cheers, I guess one of my assumptions is definitely wrong then, about ll.com.au. Thought these were $300-$400+ but sounds like it is $200+.
ix.com.au was the lowest priced LL we've ever snapped. On average, you are correct snoopy, they do fetch way more. Here's some recent LL's, NN's and LN/NL's we've snapped:
ta.com.au $1,552.00
ej.com.au $1,456.00
kx.com.au $790.00
li.com.au $551.00
ix.com.au $253.00
32.com.au $248.00
34.com.au $215.00
d1.com.au $153.00
n3.com.au $112.00
2k.com.au $79.00
3a.com.au $69.00
8i.com.au $52.00
j3.com.au $41.00
3e.com.au $21.00
t9.com.au $10.00
//Recently sold domains are ts.com for $186,000, hx.com for $125,000, ay.com for $101,000 and FB.com which sold for $8.5M.//
//Over the past two years very few two-letter domain names have come up on the market. Those that have include:
FB.com - $8,500,000 (sold to Facebook)
LI.com - $500,000
TS.com - $186,000
CR.com - $150,000
HX.com - $125,000 (purchased by a Chinese company)//

If those assumptions are correct then why would it sell for $2 if the market value is several hundred? I don't know if that can just be put down to randomness.
Here is another question to consider,
Is this the type of name that people feel "should" have some decent value but that nobody will actually stump up much for?
(because they could be buying names with a clear use, potential enduser buyers etc).
Was also a heap of nn.com sales in early 2009. (I think it was all the same seller).
